WILL FAME AND LOVE RETURN

PROLOGUE  :

When the pro sport of baseball is gradually taken over by a cabal / syndicate, they attempt to ruin the careers of players, managers and owners and taking over ownership of teams that are not part of their network. Over time strange accidents, even disappearances occur to star players and teams themselves and the hierarchy of baseball executives and sportscasters and sportswriters are involved in the plot by the cabal. Team owners involved in the cabal are engaged in extortion, money laundering and diabolical deeds while the good players, teams and owners of the sport of baseball suffer from the consequences, especially successful players and owners who are not part of the cabal / syndicate, especially one particular team, manager and owner, one of major league baseball’s most successful franchises. For one baseball star it is a question of, will fame and love return.

PART 1

When It All Comes Crashing Down.

Baltimore, Maryland

With scooping up the grounder hit by Joe Locke, 1st baseman Don Hotchkis stepped on the 1st base bag to record the last out of the game and with it the celebration began with the Philadelphia Diamonds winning the Championship Series 4 games to none sweeping the home team Baltmore Clippers.

The Diamonds players were celebrating in the infield as the dejected Baltimore Clippers players were leaving the dugout, heading for their clubhouse having been swept by the Philadelphia Diamonds for the 3rd straight year, even though both teams were a powerhouses each winning 105 games during the regular season and being evenly matched, they were no match for the Diamonds. Even though Baltimore Clippers star 2nd baseman Rick Randolph went 10 for 21 and batted .476 during the series, he was the only one who consistently got hits. There was jubilation in the visitors clubhouse as the Diamonds were celebrating having won their 4th consecutive Major League Baseball Carrington Cup title, a rarity, even with teams that are dominant.

Both co-MVP’s of the Championship Series, centerfielder Rick Harrison and left fielder Don Wood once again had excellent performances as they did the previous 2 Championship Series for their team leadership and excellent hitting displays at bat and in the outfield, both being catalyst’s for the Philadelphia Diamonds domination of the American Conference League and Major league Baseball.

As the team showered , then got dressed, they all headed out of the Baltimore Clippers home stadium, they made their way toward the Philadelphia team bus and head on up I-95 back to Philadelphia. It was turning out to be  a glorious trip home. The afterglow of another championship and a 4 game sweep. Very few teams could boast of being as dominant and the Philadelphia Diamonds were proving that they were one of the most elite franchises in baseball history, having won their 37th pennant and 25th championship series all time, in the 116 year history of the team.

Unbeknown to the jubilant players, evil was lurking out on the highway as the team bus was being followed sinisterly by someone out to commit evil. A white pickup truck kept getting closer to the bus in the next lane, Rick Harrison looked out the window and suddenly hollered out, “that’s the same truck that ran Don, Nate and myself off the road back in 2001 when we had that accident”. Then all of a sudden the white pickup truck cut in front of the bus causing it to swerve back and forth then skidding into the overpass abutment for Maryland state route 24 Bel Air exit, then over turning several times. Coming to rest and blocking the exit. With the bus crumpled from overturning, the players and team personnel were jostled and flipped about inside the bus, leaving bodies strewn all over. All told, 26 met with their deaths in the crash, 6 were severely injured and would never play baseball ever again, while by some miraculous divine force, 6 somehow escaped any serious injury.

As for the pickup truck, it got away and disappeared, and not a trace, nor would anyone know who the perpetrator was of this devastation. The baseball world would be in a state of shock and mourning the loss, the Philadelphia Diamonds would need to be seriously rebuilt. In the city of Philadelphia there would be great sadness, no joyous celebration in Center City, no parade along Broad Street or Market Street. It would be a long way back to regaining prominence again.
