Points In Time

Topanga Canyon, California

Saturday, May 17, 1986

12:40 p.m.

‘Marsha’?” The woman called. “ ‘Marsha Goldman’?”

Hearing her name called… Hearing her ‘maiden’ name called, drooping to her knees, her eyebrows furling in question, Marsha looked at the woman that was now approaching.

“Marsha? It is you, isn’t it!”

Hiding her breasts, “Uh...” feeling stupid on her knees, hesitantly standing “...Uh, yes.”

Still at the far end of the pool, Uh, oh!

Knowing the ‘only’ reason Marsha agreed to spending a day at Elysium was because ‘no one’ would know her so, Uh, oh! Mitchell thought as...

“Marcie! Oh, my God! I can’t believe it! ‘You’! ‘Here’?”

“Who? Uh...”

“Marcie, it’s me! ‘Evie Dorfmann’!”

Her mind searching…. ‘Evie Dorfmann’? Marsha questioned unbelievably “...from ‘Roosevelt’?”

“Yeah! ‘Hi’!” Hugging her. “I can’t believe it! ‘Marcie Goldman’! ‘Here’!”

Never before being hugged while nude by another nude woman. Her arms hanging limply at her sides….

Her head turned to her husband, Marsha, Goldman, Lipensky silently worded, ‘I’m going to kill you’!

In the meantime, the name ‘Dorfmann’ ringing a bell in the brain of Marsha Lipensky’s husband.

Thinking, Uh-Oh! Seeing the look of panic on his wife’s face. Though not actually hearing the words, knowing exactly what she was saying and also knowing why she was saying what she was saying.

Gazing skyward as though in prayer, Marsha’s words coming hauntingly to mind: ‘Anyone there that knows us’?

“No!”

‘Mitchell…’ her hand on my shoulder ‘… there’s no one there that we know?”

‘That ‘knows us’? No! Of course not! Who’d be there that we know’?

Having not the slightest idea who this woman was.

Having not the slightest idea how this woman knew his wife.

Having absolutely no idea what to say or what to do.

‘I’m going to kill you’! reverberating through his mind, along with…

‘Dorfmann’?

Hanging onto the coping at the deep end of the Elysium Fields swimming pool, transfixed, he watched the unexpected drama opening before his eyes, as…

“My, God...” Evie Dorfmann said “...Marcie, you look ‘wonderful’!”

“Uh...”

Still trying to overcome her shock at running into someone she knows, ‘here’, in Elysium Fields in Topanga California. And someone she knows from Chicago. From high school, for ‘God’s sake’!

“Uh... yes, thanks, Evie. You, umm, look...” looking downward at Evie’s minute… though minute, saggy breasts “… really good, too.”

Evie’s eyes following Marsha’s. “Yeah...” laughing “...I wore pretty good falsies back then. But now… We’re about the same age I guess. What? About fifty?”

Still struggling for words. “Yes,” Marsha affirmatively nodded her head.

“So this is me...” spreading her arms from side to side “...and who don’t like it… well ‘screw’ ‘‘im.”

Though not overly friendly in high school… Actually not friendly at all. Overcoming a bit of the shock at no longer being ‘ anonymous’ and warming, if not to another woman’s bare-chested hug, than to Evie’s ‘screw’ ‘im’ attitude.

“And you...” Marsha asked “...you married? You’ve any kids?”

“Got married. Got divorced. Got no kids. How’s ‘bout you?”

Her face turning towards her husband “Yes…” pointing her hand, finger extended like the barrel of a gun at him “… ‘Mitch’ and I’ve been married for, uh,” thinking a moment “...going on thirty-one years and we’ve four children.”

Catching the ‘I’m going to kill you by shooting you’ gesture, but unsure of what he should do, still supporting himself by his outspread arms on the pool’s coping, Mitchell remained on the far end of the pool.

Looking across the pool, “Hi…” turning to Marsha “…‘Mitch’? You said his name is ‘Mitchell’?”

“Yeah.”

“Hi, Mitchell!” wiggling her hand in greeting. “I’m Evie,” she shouted across the pool.

Motioning to him with a ‘come here’ gesture. “Come here!” Marsha commanded as though calling a dog.

“Four kids, huh? That’s great! How old?”

Swimming across. ..

Standing alongside Evie and Marsha, finding the close proximity to two naked women, even if one ‘was’ his wife and even if one had really small saggy breasts, and – which he noticed when he came alongside – Evie was a small woman and had no pubic hair whatsoever which Mitchell found to be just a little disconcerting and wondering , ‘why’ because there was ‘nothing’ about this rather homely woman that even remotely appealed to him, ‘why’ he sensed his penis coming out of hiding reminding Mitchell Lipensky of his lifelong thought that his penis had a mind of it’s own.

“Hi, Evie...” he said “...nice to know you.”

Knowing how ‘things’ can become magnified in gently rippling water – stooping in the water as though to keep his shoulders from burning, attempting to hide what was absolutely no longer in hiding.

“Hi, Mitch. Nice to know you, too.”

Looking downward, seeing what her husband couldn’t quite hide, her heart quickening – not in a bad way – at the sight of his stiffened penis and sure that Evie had noticed too.

Bringing Evie’s attention back to her. “Our kids range from twenty-three to twenty-nine.”

Three couples entering the pool, four of the people walking down the three steps into the shallow, while a man and woman, walking to the deep end, dove in.

“They still with you?”

Marsha’s eyes had followed the man, the more ‘endowed’ man, the man with the long, dangling appendage.

“No…” blinking her eyes a number of times “...no,” she said, “they’re all on their own and doing okay.”

Ignoring the new people, dying of curiosity. “Uh...” also attempting to bring ‘himself’ back into control “...how do you girls know each other?”

“ Marcie and me, we know each other from school…”

Interrupting. “From ‘Roosevelt’?” Mitchell asked incredulously.

“Yeah...” Marsha said rather cryptically “...go figure!”

“From Chicago to ‘all the way here, to Elysium’?”

“Yeah...” Evie said, echoing Marsha’s “...go figure!”

The coincidence still incomprehensible. “When the hell did you two graduate?”

“Uh,” looking at Evie.

“Uh… “ Looking to Marsha “...nineteen-fifty-three?”

“Yeah, I think.”

Intent on the ‘girls’ and their verbal back and forth, his penis shrunken back into hiding, straightening his body. Standing. “Let me get this straight.” Looking at Evie. “You’n’Marsha know each other from Roosevelt High School, in Chicago, which is about twenty-five hundred miles from here, and you graduated… Have you guys seen each other since graduating?”

“No.” Evie said.

Marsha negatively shook her head.

“Okay...” Mitchell went on “...you two graduated high school in Chicago in nineteen-fifty-three and you haven’t seen each other in…”calculating “...thirty-three years. And here we are, standing naked about twenty-five hundred miles and thirty-three years away and… Holy shit! This is ‘some ’coincidence!

A little more at ease being nude within a swimming pool among now, including her husband and he didn’t really count because they’d both seen each other nude hundreds, maybe thousands of time, but more at ease with her, so to speak, public nudity. However still finding this unbelievable coincidence… well, ‘unbelievable’.

“Hey, I’ve an Idea!”

Trying not to be obvious, glancing at Evie’s minute, saggy but noticeable breasts — noting the small, gold ‘Stat of David’ hanging from a fine gold chain between her small, but noticeable dark nipples.

“Yeah, what’s that?” Mitchell asked.

Looking from Mitchell to Marsha, “You two here by yourself?”

“ ‘You kidding’!?” Stated as much, if not more of an exclamation then a question. “Yes, ‘of course’ we’re here by ourselves!”

“Yeah, Evie…” Mitchell said “...Marsha made me sign an oath in blood saying that there’d be ‘no-one’ here that knows us.”

“ ‘No-one here that knows you’? Then I pop up! What are the odds?”

“From West Rogers Park in Chicago to Topanga Canyon, California? Yeah...” Mitchell laughed “...what are the odds?”

“Anyway...” Evie said “...seeing as you two...” looking at Marsha “...are here by yourselves, why don’t you pull your stuff up to our blanket…”

“ ‘Our’?”

“Yeah, I’m here with my boyfriend along with another couple. Friends of ours from ‘outside’.”

“You’ve friends that, ‘outside of here’ you let see you, uh…”

“Naked? Sure,” Evie said. “Kenneth’s the one that introduced Morgan – Morgan’s my boyfriend – and he brought Morgan here first then Morgan brought me here and today Kenneth’s here with his girlfriend…”

‘ ‘Ken and ‘Sandy’?”

“You know them?” Evie asked.

“Yeah, we met on my first day here.”

Seeing a look come to Marsha’s face… A look that could mean anything, but...

“I know what you’re thinking…” Evie said “...and ‘no’ we don’t have ‘swapping parties’. We’re just friends.”

“And you can do this? Go to a movie or dinner or just sit around and ‘just’ be friends knowing…

...“What we all look like naked?” Evie said, “Yes! Sure we can!”

Still in the pool. Stopping now, the three of us did not speak as a young couple approached...

As a young, maybe in their thirties couple approached…

As a very attractive young couple approached that, “Hi,” the young man said as he and the young woman…

“Hello,” she said as she and the young man started down the steps into the shallow water.

Sensing a flow of vaginal moisture, captivated with the appearance of this handsome man with the long, thick penis. “Uh, hi… uh, hello.” Marsha stammered back as…

Seeing the look on Marsha’s face. Hearing his wife who never stammers, stammer. Sensing a pang of jealousy.

“Know what, Evie...” Taking Marsha’s elbow, steering her up the steps, fighting the urge to look at the young woman with, God, he’d thought, she’s got great tits “...Marcie’n’me, we’d love to join your boyfriend and Ken and Sandy.”

Fighting the urge to look over her shoulder, to see the young man again. “Yes, okay...” being led up the steps “...that’ll be fine.”

Glistening droplets of water upon their bodies evaporating in the balmy air.

Walking through the thick grass of Elysium Fields wearing nothing but sandals; Evie to the right and Mitchell – Marsha’s hand held within his – to her left.

Feeling the warm breeze caressing her body…

Marsha sensed the warm pine and grass scented breeze caressing places of her body that a breeze had never before caressed.

“Our blanket and stuff...” pointing “...is over this way.”

Two men with legs crossed facing each other playing Backgammon looked up as the woman, lying on her stomach, rolled onto her side as…

Following Mitchell as he wound his way through the now populous field to ‘their place’, Evie and Marsha folded the blanket as he hoisted the picnic basket.

“And we’re over this way.”

Following Evie, Marsha could surely relate to her husband telling her: ‘But you know me and you know that I’d be horny as hell seeing all these naked women, but there’s so many I can’t concentrate on any…

Because there were so many naked people and, certainly not wanting to stare, it was almost as though she saw no one.

Oddly, the thought of being naked and meeting three other naked people, two of them being men, oddly, now seemed to be rather natural.

Wondering how to explain Ken and Sandy to Marsha, Oh, Shit!

Looking up, coming to his feet, “Mitch!”…

How’s he know Mitchell? Marsha thought.

Shaking hands, clasping his shoulder,.“You know Evie? “ Ken questioned. “How do you know, Evie?”

“He didn’t know me… Well, yeah, he knows me now.” Evie said. “You won’t believe it, but Marcie…”

Making introductions...

Marcie, this is Ken…” tapping each man on the shoulder “...my boyfriend, Morgan, and Sandy, and this…” motioning to Mitchell “...is Marcie’s husband, Mitchell.”

Shaking hands, “Morgan, nice to know you.”

You, too, Mitch...” modding his head “...hi,

Marsha.”

S he’d been sitting on the edge of the

blanket. Standing now. “Good meeting you,

Marcie.”

Thinking of hugging, but changing her mind. “Hey, Mitch! It’s ‘really’ nice seeing you again.”

Thinking of hugging, but ‘wisely’ changing his mind. “Good to see you, too, Sandy.”

Thinking Sandy a bit on the chubby side and other than pretty breasts, no competition, although...’It’s really nice seeing you again’? Marsha thought, How’s she know Mitchell?

I have never been to a naked pool party when young, so I'm not going to start going to one now at my age, but this is a well-written chapter. I may need to go back and catch up on reading how Mitchie's and Marsha's lives had been for all the years that went past.

I hope Marsha's anger doesn't flare again now that her mind is ticking about Sandy. Evie started a ripple effect in the pool.

Speaking of coincidence! Nicely done. Mitchell has some explaining to do and since he already "knows" Sandy in a rather nonchalant way, may have some difficulty lying his way out of this little dilemma because Sandy may try to get seconds or thirds of what she felt was a good thing the first time when Marsha was totally out of the picture.

I believe you could go on and on with these stories of what happened at the Fields because everybody loves a titillating story and I can't wait to hear what you have to write about Lita again because she just has to, coincidently, keep reminding Mitchell of his lustful thoughts of that soft ball player he had a soft spot for.
