Rick Randolph had just returned to his hotel suite after visiting the Baltimore Clippers team doctor Dennis  Donaldson, for a check up to diagnose the progression of his recuperation from all of his injuries.

Doctor Donaldson told Rick that he was making good progress and he would be able to clear him to start working out at Chesapeake Harbor Stadium after his next check up on Wednesday July 18, 2007 and Doctor Donaldson said that if all goes well with the workouts Rick could be able to rejoin the Clippers and resume playing, about the day of Wednesday August 8, 2007. 

Rick Randolph’s facial cheek bones had completely healed, his right shoulder was still a bit tight and also tender, but it was still healing on schedule.  As for Rick’s concussion, he was still experiencing some headaches from it.

Rick’s cell phone started ringing, looking down at the caller ID, it was his dad Gerald checking up on him. Answering the phone, Rick said, “hello dad, how are you doing”. 

Gerald Randolph answered  Rick’s question saying, “i am doing fine, I was wondering how your visit with the Clippers team doctor Dennis Donaldson went”. Rick’s dad Gerald had always been his rock and sounding board and had a calming, reassuring affect on him and today was no different than any other time. 

Rick answered his dad’s query, “it’s all progressing well, to the doctor’s recuperation schedule for me. The cheek bones in my face are healing properly, the shoulder, even though it is still tender is healing”.

Gerald Randolph response was, “that’s tremendous, you will finally be able to get back into the swing of everything and you will be back on the road and playing the high energy game that you always have”.

All of a sudden Rick heard the voice of his mom. Wanda Randolph told her son, “we’re hoping and praying that you will completely recuperate and heal from you injuries and that you will get back your batting rhythm and your groove and continue your suburb hitting”. 

Rick was all choked up, then he said to his mom, “I certainly will be trying”. Wanda Randolph said sweetly, “OK, get yourself ready, we’ll let you go and we will be talking again”. Rick said, “by mom, love you”. And with that he ended the call and turned off the phone.
