PROLOGUE

My short story series Keystone Bay finds local suburban Philadelphia  country music singer songwriter Michael Walker is in a quandary about the music that he is composing and writing for other singers becoming chart busters while his own songs just languish. He keeps asking his wife if she would want to be a part of a vocal duet, but she continually turns him down. Then he comes up with a brilliant idea to enlist his co songwriting buddy Daniel Gennings and form a vocal duo, who wholeheartedly says when do we begin. Michael and Daniel start writing their own songs and touring to become one of the hottest singing acts on country music, but the only problem is that Daniel suffers from bouts of depression, all from a love relationship that went bad. Unfortunately the depression would occasionally interfere with their performing.

A SPARK OF AN IDEA

Reviewing the musical material that he had composed and written, Michael Walker was concerned with what he was listening to and also reading. There did not seem to be anything that jumped at him or stood out, nothing that he thought would help make his languishing singing career  take off to a higher level

Having written hit songs for other country music artists, for some reason his own songs were failing to rise up the music charts.

Michael Walker had spoken to his wife, Denise Stanley on several occasions about the two of them becoming a duet, but she had always expressed hesitancy about the idea.

Having collaborated and performed with Daniel Gennings several times, they were well received. Michael started to think that maybe teaming up with Daniel as a vocal duo, especially since Daniel was having the same concerns as he was about his own material.

The one thing that concerned Michael Walker the most about getting involved as a vocal duo with Daniel Gennings was that he tended to 

experience bouts of depression, having suffered from a relationship that had gone wrong in the past. But if the two of them could come up with chart busting hit songs of their own, those bouts of depression could give way to tremendous happiness and his life would be full of rainbows.

First, Michael approached his wife Denise for her opinion of his idea. Denise’s response was very positive and thought that a collaboration partnership with Daniel Gennings as a vocal duo would be a very positive outcome. Denise agreed with Michael that Daniel’s tendency toward depression would have a positive effect on him. Then Michael went further and asked Denise if she would be a part of a trio with him and Daniel. Denise completely shot down that suggestion for she did not want to be a part of it.

Michael Walker then called Daniel Gannings and invited him to meet up with him for he had some ideas to discuss with him and wanted to see if he would approve.
