Getting Down To Business

Michael Walker and Daniel Gennings had both been trying to come up with a name for their vocal duo. Michael had expressed his thought that since they both lived in the state of Pennsylvania, known as the Keystone State, but he did not want to use the word “Keystoners” because he felt that there would be someone who would raise questions over the name because they would be looked upon as “stoned” or “stoners” and Michael did not want any distractions or inferences over the groups name.
Daniel Genningsm being a boating and fishing lover thought that “Delaware, Bay, or both would be all or part of a good name for the two of them.
So, they went back and forth on the name. In the spirit of friendly compromise they settled on the name “Keystone Bay”, for they wanted to get that part behind them and get on to bigger things like that of putting some songs together, to get them completed and go about the process of getting them out, especially the country music radio station market in order to get that important radio station air play.
Michael Walker asked Daniel Gennings if he had thought about who they would want as an agent / manager. Daniel Gennings said that he was not really sure who he would want. Michael Walker responded “How about Ryan Davies, he is a singer / songwriter, concert and talent promoter, I think that he would be an ideal choice for us.” Daniel Gennings was all smiles, saying, “What a great choice, he is exactly what we are needing and would
really open a lot of important doors for us”. Michael said to Daniel, “We will have to call him and see if we can arrange a meeting”.
Michael spoke up saying. “But, let’s get working on a song. You remember that ex girlfriend of yours whose family took a dislike to you and demanded that she dump you. That would make a great song, we can turn it into a ballad”.
Daniel was laughing, but he also had tears rolling down the cheeks of his face. Daniel said half crying, “Oh, what could have been, we could turn it into one of those classic ballads that we will always be known for”.
So they got down to the business of writing the ballad and this is what they came up with, the ballad of Olivia.
“OLIVIA”
Olivia, you pledged your love to me
You said that we were soul mates
And said that your soul was bonded to me
In our past lives we were mates
Olivia you assuredly told me
That you would always love me
For you always wanted to be with me
And that you would always love me
Olivia, your family became very involved
Because of whatever story you told them
And apparently your family must have resolved
That I was in the way and I was condemned
Olivia, something went wrong along the way
And for you to be told to do it their way
Then for them to say that they had plans for you
I must have been a bad influence on you
Olivia, your family is controlling your life
They are telling you want you have to do
And your own life should be inly your delight
But they sadly will turn your life so blue
