The Beginning Of A Great Run

Ryan Davies called Michael Walker wondering how far along, him and Daniel Gennings were on their CD project and their plans for a concert tour schedule.

Ryan told Michael that he and Daniel could meet up at Ryan’s place and go over everything.

Daniel dropped by Michael’s to pick him up and together they arrived at Ryan Davies house in the Spring Valley section of Springfield. Daniel rang the doorbell and Ryan’s wife, Kim Mathias opened the door and greeted the two of them.

Ryan entered the living room to greet the guys. Ryan said, “First off, your song “Olivia” was number 1 for 4 weeks in a row, secondly, your next song “Adventure Of A Lifetime” is being released to the radio markets tomorrow, not to mention that your special 2 song CD set is receiving a great amount of attention and will be the number 1 CD set by Thanksgiving”.

Then Ryan said to Michael and Daniel, “So what is this story about the two of you meeting up with Alicia Reynolds. Her cousin Ashleigh Gannon called to tell me that Alicia told her that the meeting was a disaster and did not want to have anymore to do with you two”.

Daniel responded to Ryan, “Well, Alicia does not think too much of you either. Frankly the problem is that she doesn’t want to work with anyone other than Ashleigh Gannon, but also, Alicia was pissed off that our song

“Olivia” pushed her out of the number 1 spot”. Continuing, Daniel said, “I suspect that Alicia Reynolds apparently does not like competition and also thinks that she is superior to everyone else, and also has an attitude problem.

Ryan laughed, then said “That, sweet girl next door personna is hype, just to get her songs to sell”.

Now Daniel was laughing, then he said to Ryan, “That’s exactly what I said to Michael after Alicia left the restaurant”.

Ryan said to Michael and Daniel, “I do not understand, for someone who has an attitude, I know her husband Rick Randolph the baseball player with the Philadelphia Diamonds and he is a class act, totally opposite of his wife”.

Daniel replied, “Oh, so, it’s not just us who feel that way”.

Ryan, now trying to get away from the subject, “Now, I want to know about how y’all’s CD song selections are coming along”.

Daniel pulled out the sheets of lyrics, musical scores and notes for the 8 songs that Michael and himself had compiled and composed. The title that they picked out was also the title song of the CD, “Somewhere There Is A Rainbow”. Ryan Davies played each of the demo’s of all 8 songs that they selected for the CD. After finishing up playing and critiquing each of the individual songs, Ryan said to Michael and Daniel, “How do you guys keep doing it, how do you guys keep coming up with this material, all of these songs could end up being number 1’s, you keep up with this for a couple of years and the song playing radio stations and the CD song buying public is not going to get enough of you guys and your songs. You will end up setting CD song sales records. If you have a number 2, I will be greatly surprised”.

Michael said, “So it’s set, it’s a deal”, to which Ryan replied, “Absolutely, it’s perfect, just keep singing songs like these and they will forget all about Alicia Reynolds”.

Daniel then intoned, “We got enough material now for the follow up CD for the following year”.

“Well, just tweak it along the way, in the meantime” replied Ryan. “Also when you guys go to the recording studio, are you going to use Denise and Kim as your backup singers’? Michael spoke up and said, “We wouldn’t think of anyone else but those two”.

Ryan then asked, “And what about the concert tour stops”. Michael responded, “At first we are going to try and start out locally at small venues, then as time goes on we will gradually increase it”.

Michael gave Ryan a small notebook with a listing of projected dates and selected venues for his approval and Ryan responded, “Great, I can go with this, another perfect selection”.

And with that it was all set. Ryan then said, “Let’s get this cranking and get these songs recorded and completed before Thanksgiving, then we can all relax and enjoy the upcoming holidays”.
