That said, I am going to go on with my ‘Points in Time’ series although the time is no longer March and April of 1986.  PIT/2-1: Reintroduction

Points in Time 2

Westlake Village

January 3, 2010

Memo:

As those of us that write know, sometimes— ‘often’ the hardest thing to be done is to simply find a place to ‘start’.

‘Where’, ‘when’, ‘how’ and with ‘who’ can be a problem until we create a start’ then— At least for me, most often one word will lead to another then there are sentences and paragraphs and ‘lo’ , there are people and the place and the time and, ‘yes’ there does often come a long pause between words when just the right word is racing through your mind but you cannot quit catch it. And sometimes there are simple sentences that need the right word or structure to allow the reader to see and to sense exactly what you, the writer is seeing or sensing and once creating what the writer feels can be seen and sensed by others — at least for this writer, the story often takes on a ‘life of it’s own’ leading me to places I hadn’t before thought of.

And as this ‘Points in Time’ continuation has not, at least, not as yet taken on ‘a life of it’s own’ Mitchell’s actual age and the woman that returns to his life to remain as his wife is still unknown to this writer.

That said, I am going to go on with my ‘Points in Time’ series although the time is no longer March and April of 1986. And Mitchell is no longer fifty-two but is approximately twenty -four years older putting his age at about seventy-six and the nude fields of Elysium no longer exist and the group of the remaining eight friends are …?

To be honest I have no idea whom or what ‘semi-fictional’ character of ‘semi-factual’ or ‘100% fictional’ character and/or situation might be resurrected to bring humor or drama or understanding into this ‘semi-fictional’ or ‘100% fictional’ ongoing series [and those of you that knew me know that I can and ‘love’ to write ongoing , sometimes extremely sexual ‘TV’ cable like series.]

But first, as a reintroduction to my somewhat ‘factional’ ‘semi-fictional’ character ‘Mitchell Lipensky’ I must reiterate certain pertinent facts and through a notation — if interested, will let you know where (* book or *series) you might find additional pertinent information regarding a circumstance a person, place or time.

So, doing my best not to be too confusing, I guess what I am actually going to be doing is simply ‘rambling’ in a, hopefully, not too confusing manner.

Being the lower end of the financial ‘middle class’ or— never able to figure this out — on the upper end of the financial ‘lower class’ — Mitchell was born in 1934 to Myra and Walter Lipensky and lived on the west side of Chicago, Illinois for the first sixteen years of his life …

Until, Mitchell blew up their kitchen with a bit of gun powder. (*‘Becoming’’)

Notation: Mitchell’s factional-semi-fictional/fictional life from five years of age to twenty-one years of age can be found in the ‘factional-semi-fictional/fictional’ “American, Mid-Twentieth Century, Becoming of Age Novel’: ‘Becoming’.”

(*Amazon… Free with Prime)

So— Other than some time, place and with whom back-tracking pertinent references — we will ‘not’ get into the details of Mitchell’s early life.

We ‘must’ however re-introduce the one girl and four women that throughout his life were deeply loved by Mitchell, because at his age of approximately seventy-six...

Not really sure about Mitchell’s age at this time either, or which ‘one’ of his past loves…

Which of his ‘past loves’ it will be? Because at this time I have absolutely ‘no’ idea which it might be…

One of Mitchell’s past loves will ‘literally’ re-surface to spend what is left of his, or ‘their’ lives together…

‘Till death did they part’…

Which at this time is ‘strictly’ fictional also.

Rambling…

Although not the ‘one girl’, nor of any significant ongoing remembrance, but more so a feeler into the character of Mitchell Lipensky we may as well start with

Amy Pearlman:1946

Amy was the first girl in his Hebrew School class to wear a training bra… Well Amy was the first girl that Mitchell knew that wore any kind of a bra and being an inquisitive, not yet thirteen year old boy Mitchell Lipensky fell in love with Amy Pearlman.

And Amy being a rather ‘snotty’ self-affected twelve year old girl completely ignored Mitchell Lipensky.

On September 25, 1946 , while in Hebrew School — ‘Inquiring minds wanting to know’, Mitchell, on a clandestine, wholly educational mission to discover where girls ‘pee’ from, fell into a toilet.

Coincidentally, though strictly a coincidence, Amy Pearlman was the girl sitting on the next stalls toilet. (*Becoming)

This said, we will ‘completely’ pass on Amy Pearlman.

Marsha Goldman: 8/5/49...3/20/54...3/16/55…

10/17/55 and forward to 1986 …

(* ‘Becoming & *’For Better or Worse & the first *’Points in Time’ series.)

Notation: Due to the fact that the ‘on and off’ time spent with Marsha Goldman span their times from age fourteen (Mitchell) and age twelve (Marsha) there will be some manipulation the years.

Marsha Goldman (12) and Mitchell Lipensky (14) first met on 8/5/49 in Union Pier, Michigan, and along with friends spent the one evening together, when, angry because ‘manly’ nearing fifteen years of age Mitchell insulted her a by calling— not quit 13 year old Marsha ‘a baby’ causing her to leave in an angry huff, the two did not see each other until…

Chicago: 3/20/54 when accidentally meeting on a balmy evening within a crowd of older teen-angers young adults, Marsha then seventeen and Mitchell then nineteen met and were once again separated and had no contact with each other until…

Chicago: 6/10/55 Accidentally meeting, their long buried love for each other surfaced. However due to Mitchell’s military obligation once again the two separated until…

10/17/55 When Marsha Goldman and Mitchell Lipensky married.

Their lives ‘For Better or Worse’ continues throughout ‘Becoming’ into and throughout ‘For Better or Worse’ (Amazon, free with ‘Prime’) Then into the ‘PIT: ‘Points in time Elysium Fields’ series to the time of their divorce in late 1986.

Notation: Other than the 8/5/49 date, the balance of the Marsha scenario is taken out of sequence as between ‘Marsha: 8/5/49’ and Marsha : 3/20/54 there was…

...Susan Friedman: 12/ 8/51 (*Becoming)

Susan Friedman (age sixteen, Mitchell seventeen) met at the soda fountain counter of a Walgreen’s Drug Store in Evanston, Illinois.

Giving the premise: ‘turn a corner, cross a street and

your life can change forever’; the entire ‘Susan’ experience (* ‘Becoming’) can be summed up in one poem.

‘Kitty-Corner Stool’

She'd never been there

at the Evanston

Drug Store soda fountain

but on that day

at that time...

I’d never been there

at the Evanston

Drug Store soda fountain

but on that day

at that time...

Our eyes touching

the girl on the kitty-corner stool

and myself as I awaited a hot fudge sundae

our eyes touched and held

and words somehow materialized

then a telephone number given

and a date made

With the first kiss

for me

the thought

of this girl on the kitty-corner stool

as ‘a gift from God’

when love blossomed

and breathed

the warm vapor

of heart numbing

beauty...

Of heart numbing

beauty until...

Love blossomed for near a year

until...

as a castle of sand

as smoke in the wind

love was gone

gone along with the girl

on the kitty-corner stool.

Now

though the years

are so many...

The years so many

that were we to meet

I would not know

the girl on the

kitty-corner stool

though

still to this day

though sixty years are gone

still,

to this day

I sense the warm vapor

of the heart numbing

beauty

of this girl

the girl on the

kitty-corner stool

whose love

our love

gone

gone

as a castle of sand

gone

as smoke in the wind

the girl on the

kitty-corner stool.

So, this writer wonders, within the currant ‘Points in Time’ might Mitchell Lipensky and now seventy-five year old Susan Friedman somehow find each other.

Somehow even recognize each other, because in Mitchell Lipensky’s mind and memory ‘Susan Friedman’ is still a— resembling ‘Elizabeth Taylor’, beautiful sixteen year old girl…

‘If’ seventy-five year old Susan Friedman — or whatever her married name might be, i s still alive.

Elizabeth Herzon:1958 & 1963 (* For Better or Worse)

October 13, 1958

“Here we go again, huh?” Looking across the width of the two desks, their eyes touching, her lingering smile warming, very much so, too much so, the young man sitting on the far side of the double desks.

Why’s she got to be so damned beautiful? Mitchell thought for at least the thousandth time since meeting Elizabeth Herzon and, for at least twice as many times, Mitchell sensed the… that well known longing sensation in the lower region… the far lower region of his stomach.

At age twenty-one, Elizabeth Herzon had long, dark blonde, honey colored streaked hair, a beautiful round face with large, green eyes and a crooked smile that warmed everyone it came in contact with.

Standing a bit above 5' 5", weighing approximately one hundred twenty-five pounds, with vital statistics of 38-38, Elizabeth had the kind of figure that turned men’s heads, especially the head of the young man that sat directly across from her.

Unknown to all but her family and a few remaining friends, Elizabeth had always been….

“Oy, such a punnum! Such a beautiful face!” Her mother and father and aunts and uncles would say. “Such a shame she’s so…

“Fat!”

After losing a bit more than seventy pounds, as a

beautiful, twenty-one year old woman Elizabeth Herzon ‘really’ liked Mitchell Lipensky.

Much as when he’d first set eyes on Susan Friedman in December of 1951, the first sight of Elizabeth Herzon sent Mitchell Lipensky’s mind and heart reeling and having honey coloured-streaked hair, and being beautiful… unbelievably beautiful and having the type of body he’d always fantasied over, as men are able, at times, to fantasise the impossible, Elizabeth Herzon had become the embodiment of Mitchell Lipensky’s masturbatory daydreams.

However in 1958 Mitchell and Marsha were in the ongoing process of rebuilding their marriage after a bitter three month separation and truly loving Marsha and his infant son, nothing became of Mitchell’s deeply hidden affection for Elizabeth Herzon…

Until 1962. When going through a terribly depressing and unhappy period within the marriage of Marsha and Mitchell Lipensky …

On February 27, 1962, Elizabeth Herzon and Mitchell began a heated nine month love affair that ended on November 22, 1963; the day that President John F, Kennedy was assassinated.

So now, in year 2010, forty-seven years later and forty-seven years older, could there possibly be attraction enough for either seventy-three year old Elizabeth Herzon and seventy-six year old Mitchell Lipensky to find everlasting love and happiness together?

I remember them well. At least the way you wrote them up. And so many, but probably less than the average man's fantasy. But two more to go? I hadn't thought.

I'm sure that your pan will find a way to start writing at that young retirement age when an old love reappears to walk into the sunset with you… (But with walkers or scooters? How unromantic!)

Mitchell has been so unlucky in the love department all of his life so far, my biggest hope is for him to find someone who will genuinely love him for who he is to spend his golden years with. I hope that someone is ou there for him.
