Fun Memories of Contemporary Christian Music Oldies From KLOVE Radio's Fall Back Weekend Tunes

What a delight it was this past weekend to hear on KLOVE Radio some oldies in the Contemporary Christian music genre that were interspersed with new songs - it was something I've been dreaming about for a long time and I've been wanting to ask KLOVE to think about.
Songs by DC talk, Amy Grant, NewSong, Rich Mullins and others brought back many fond memories.
Back in the 90s and early 2000s, I recalled going with my family to see Jackie Velasquez at Bethany and other artists, such as Audio Adrenaline, Michael W Smith and MercyMe at Church's like Healing Place and at the then Centroplex - now the Raising Cane's River Center arena.
It was cool once to see Avalon and Anointed at Southeastern University.
A real fun memory came back when I heard the song "He Reigns," by the Newsboys.
The Newsboys had a concert scheduled at Tad Gormley Stadium in New Orleans by City Park, so I got tickets and went with our youngest son, JP when he was probably around 9 or 10.
We got some pretty good general admission seating close to the stage, and then heard some thunder, as the forecast had warned that there might be some rains coming to that area.
I brought some extra clothes for JP and me in the car just to be safe and had a small umbrella. After the Newsboys opened with Amazing Love ("You Are My King"), they started to play "He Reigns," and sure enough it started pouring down raining .
We didn't like getting wet at first, but I couldn't help but laugh about God's sense of humor with the name of the song and what was occurring, so JP and I just let ourselves get wet and were in no real rush out as the concert was being canceled because of lightning!
Subsequently, we had heard that we could have gotten rebated for the cancelled concert, but I never did and we had such fun memories on the way home after we had changed clothes in the car and put on what was 92.7 FM The BRIDGE, locally a great Christian radio station that was out of Bethany, and I remember folks like Kurt Wallace, his sister, Peter K. and Sylvia Weatherspoon who were some of the DJ's there!
We could use a little bit of that calling out for rain here in much of Bible Belt Texas as we watch the clouds open up over Louisiana this year as we dip deeper into drought.
