Fun Christmas Memories of Caroling in New Orleans and Riding now with Santa in my Car/Sleigh with Cheering Reindeers.

What ever happened to Christmas Caroling in your neighborhoods … or even downtown?
This “Man With The Yellow Hat” will add a Red One to help spread good cheers to all.
And I've already been donning a Santa Hat at work sometimes and noted many more smiles than usual from both co-workers and clients!
It is so easy to join in practicing for caroling while driving to the Christmas tunes that I've been already hearing a lot lately on radio stations since Thanksgiving.
Another cheer-maker I got has been the “Car Buddy Inflatable Santa” which is about 3 feet tall and sits on the passenger side of the front seat weighted down, attached to the head rest and plugs directly into the cigarette lighter!
When I leave the front windows slightly down, it creates a “Waving Santa,” as the right hand already is affixed in a wave-like position and draws so many smile and thumbs-ups!
What fun memories I have of when I joined Paula and Sharon DeBen in caroling on Christmas Eve up and down Audubon Street in New Orleans during the late 70's.
We were uptown New Orleans neighbors and guitarists who used to do music ministry at the Most Holy Name of Jesus Church on St. Charles Avenue when we were in our early college years at Loyola University of New Orleans.
People would answer the door without hesitation when we knocked and surprised them with “Silent Night,” “Jingle Bells,” “Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer” and many other traditional songs.
And I also recalled sometimes joining the “Patio Planners” in Christmas Carols at Jackson Square in the Vieux Carre' in mid Decembers with much candle-light fun!
One of the most requested songs for when I would go to Assisted Living facilities or nursing homes during Christmas time in my “Man With The Yellow Hat / Curious George” outfit with a Santa Hat added to boot is the “The Twelve Days of Christmas!”
So whatever chance you may get to “Simply Having A Wonderful Christmastime” as the Paul McCartney song so well noted with all those “ding dongs,” I'm gonna also make sure that I learn how to play “Alvin And The Chipmunks” with Simon, Theodore and especially Alvin Squealing ...

I love your traveling buddy idea. Just don't take him on the high occupancy lanes only for two or more occupants. They frown on even Santa Claus for those. You did bring back memories from times when I joined Impromptu groups to go around and sing Christmas carols at work.
In recent years, I went to an assisted living home and sang Christmas carols with the occupants who could sing. I didn't have to dress up. The song they liked the best from karaoke, was Sweet Caroline, not a Christmas song, but a fond memory.
My sister just sent pictures of my nephew who has grown a full beard and mustache and had it bleached white like he has done for many Christmases so that he can play Santa Claus and really good cheer. This year his wife and he are all dressed up for some parties in their decorated craft business where they will host groups making Christmas knickknacks and decorations.
