Silent Talkies
Walking the city,
camera in hand,
focus here,
multiple clicks there,
videos flowing subtleties,
images en masse filling the head in silence.
Later…
Afternoon light
reflects gently into the sanctuary
giving movement across
collage-walls,
montaged-moving pictures,
captured company surrounding him,
showing appreciating for neighbors,
respecting pedestrians passed,
revering buildings framed.
The studio space stays alive,
As a window is shuttered,
a door locked,
a laptop kept ever awake,
a printer,
a chair,
the bed.
Eagerly
With modest glass of Gallo as companion,
The photographer toasts them all,
smiles in thanks,
sits and celebrates the special aloneness
only one who is deaf can appreciate.
Since I'm with only 25% of my hearing left, I'm fast approaching total deafness like my mother reached at about 90 after having the sharpest ears when I tried to be quiet in my youth. Perhaps I should welcome deafness coming rather than fearing it after reading this.
