                                 A Dirty Trick

Milwaukee, Wisconsin

August 6, 1945

8:10 PM

As Margery was about to discover, Rosie was indeed a shoulder holstered, .38 calibre, police special, pistol carrying ‘bouncer’, a — pun intended — ‘budding’ florist and, when not ordering the ‘House of Flowers’ meals in, a fairly decent cook. And now, after having taken a shower using specially ordered, gold tinted shampoo, standing behind the seated, still fully nude, near fifteen year old girl, Rosie the bouncer, florist, gun carrying short order cook and, apparently, somewhat of a females hair dresser, Rosie the big scary black man was also working Margery’s straight, dishwater blonde hair into a bouffant attempting to give a young girl that is attempting to look like an older, at ‘least’, eighteen year old girl, that was attempting to look like a young girl look.

8:35 PM

In Gladdys apartment, undergoing the old lady’s inspection: having the portrayed appearance she wanted the girl to have. “Okay, you look fine…” glancing at Rosie, standing alongside of ‘Pansy’ “… you did good, Rose.”

Nodding his head to the old lady in ‘thanks’.

Speaking to the girl now known as ‘pansy’. “Don’t you worry, I’ll be there all the time keeping and eye on you, and if it even ‘looks’ like the tricks giving you a hard time, or scaring you…” patting the  .38 space beneath his left armpit “… I’ll take care of him.”

“When you’re on the floor, circulate…” Gladdy instructed “...so they can see you. To the old tricks, you’re the new ‘flower’ here and they’re going to be buzzing around, trying to get under your… petals, so don’t be scared because they’ve been taught…”

“And warned!” Rosie menacingly added.

“...to be nice to my flowers.” Gladdy added. “Understand?”

Through the nervous ticking within her stomach. “Yes.”

The thought of being with ‘men’, of ‘even’ being with ‘men’, not boys; of seeing a strange man’s penis; of being able to hold a strange mans penis; of sensing the taste of a strange mans penis within her mouth transmitting moist heat to this, unknowing, young ‘nymphomaniacs’ lower region.

Yet...

Unsure. Even with Rosie’s assurance of immediate help, if needed, the not yet fifteen year old girl on this day embarking on what she was sure would be her lifelong profession, sensed a fearful twinge within her stomach.

“Remember you’ve an ‘appointment’ with Elmer Fudd at ten, so don’t let anyone mess you up, and…” Miss Gladdy warned “... try not to twist an ankle walking around in those fucking stilettos.”

“You want I should get one of the flowers to introduce Pansy to the ‘floor’?”

“Yeah… You meet any of my flowers today?” Gladdy asked Pansy.”

“Yeah, I did….” Pansy said “...the old lady. The ‘mother’ type.”

“Iris?”

“Yeah.”

“Rosie, call Iris and get her to walk Pansy around the floor for a while.”

On the other side of the international date line: The day following the Hiroshima bombing; on August 6 in the USA, while n Japan...

...On August 5, Dr. Yoshio Nishina and other atomic scientists visited Hiroshima and confirmed that it had indeed been the target of an atomic device...

As, coincidentally, on August 5, Soviet foreign minister Vyacheslav Molotov had informed the Japanese that his country— that did have a ‘non-aggression pact’ with Japan— was abrogating the ‘Soviet-Japanese Neutrality Pact’, a surefire sign that a declaration of war would soon follow. In spite of all that, Admiral Soemu Toyoda declared that there were only one or two atomic bombs likely to be available to the Americans and that Japan could endure the destruction that they would inflict, stating that “there would be more destruction but the war would go on.”

The large ‘reception’ room decorated with lovely potted plants and vases of beautiful cut flowers placed onto small coffee tables before a half dozen settees all arraigned by Rosie, whom also apparently has a decorative flair.

In the somewhat protective accompaniment of ‘the motherly type’; Iris robed in a, not quite, but not completely opaque robe dark enough to not allow naked flesh to show though but light enough to allow the double row of hanging breast flesh, along with the forty-two year old’s course nipples to emboss onto the — clingy enough— knee length robe.

A thin, black kerchief loosely knotted about her throat, provocatively costumed in the skin tight, black peddle pushers with nothing beneath allowing the pronounced fissure of her vagina to outwardly emboss upon the slick material and the pale pink ‘girlie’, widely ‘V’ necked sailor blouse, as engineered — the ‘skimpy ‘push-up bra— exposing more of Margery’s breasts than concealing. Thankful for the company of Iris, however feeling utterly conspicuous — as Gladdy had intended.

The room beginning to become occupied, a fat, old, bald man — ‘old’ at least in ‘Pansy’s’ opinion—nodding a familiar, ‘Iris’ to the older woman at Pansy’s side, then edging his way between the two, taking hold of her arm, “ come on, baby…” attempting to steer the girl to one of the small sofas “...let’s you and me get acquainted.” Stated as a demand, “Sit and talk with me awhile!”

Aware that this was now her chosen job, glancing at Iris, who shrugged her shoulders, in a ‘this is your job’ way. “Hi, there…” making a jab at friendliness, while having no idea what to say to this repulsive old man “... my name’s Pansy, and you’re...”

Patience not a virtue with this drunk and horny forty-three year old man having a twenty dollar bill that’s burning a hole in his pocket for this pretty young whore that he’s more than willing to pay for, to be able to...

Putting his face close to hers, expelling his beer and onion and stale cigar smoked breath onto her face. “ ‘Yeah’! ‘Yeah’! You’re a fuckin’ Pansy and me? I’m fuckin’ ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ that wants’a…” glancing about, looking for Rosie, whom, at the moment was out of sight, as painfully tightening his grip on the girl’s bare forearm, attempting to drag her closer “...shove my cock up your skanky, punk ass!”

Not quite the way Margery Binkowski pictured the start her new vocation in a location and occupation where the ‘coming’ and going… after paying Rosie, was most often a bit on the hushed side..

Incensed at the man’s crudeness, to say nothing of ‘Jack’ himself; pulling from the fat man’s grasp, “You stinkin’ ugly old’ mother-fucker’!” Shouting — conversations in this ‘reception’’ room most often held in soft tones— Pansy’s shout drawing Rosie’s attention. “Who the fuck you think you are!” In the heat of anger and fear, forgetting who and what ‘she’ now was...

Clenching her fist Margery Binkowski plowed it into the forty-three year old man’s face — breaking his nose — just as Rosie, the bouncer, “Told you before, Jack…” grabbing the man by his shirt front, ripping three buttons off, “...you treat our flowers like ladies!” Bounce-walking the bleeding man to the door and, opening it with one hand as jerking him forward, ripping two more buttons, Rosie threw him onto the street and within a second there came the report of a gun shot.

Sarah and Murray, Malcolm and Ellen along with Mildy dawdling over coffee and sweet rolls, purchased from Viktor before closing ‘Pink’s’ for the night.

Sharon and Clyde and Jymmi finally quieting down after being, near forcefully ordered to bed.

The mental picture of one bomb, an ‘atomic bomb’ large enough, powerful enough to completely wipe out a city the size of Hiroshima still wholly unfathomable.

Picking crumbs from the tablecloth with the tip of her finger. “The Japs aren’t going to surrender…” Mildy asked “...you think?”

This had been the ongoing discussion since President Truman’s radio announcement this morning.

Held by the circumference, turning the cup in the few drops of coffee within the saucer. “My, God!” Sarah said, “If they knew what happened?”

Unaware she was staring at her husband on the other side of the table. “How could they not know!” Ellen said.

Touching the tip of her finger to her tongue, licking the crumb. “Maybe they won’t let the people know.

War  Department: Washington, D.C.

Through much of World War II, Allied bombers would sometimes drop leaflets warning of impending bombing of a city. The leaflets often told civilians to evacuate, and sometimes encouraged them to push their leaders to surrender. On the other side of the international date line On August 6, millions of leaflets had been dropped on several Japanese cities— including Hiroshima and Nagasaki— before the bombing of Hiroshima. These leaflets did not directly reference an ‘atomic bomb’, or whether or not they were used to warn citizens of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

The loud, physical encounter drawing the attention of the thirteen or fourteen flowers and ‘tricks’ in the recreation area from conducting their ‘business’ to Rosie, who was all but dragging a bleeding man to the ‘House of Flowers’ entry way and to the young new flower dressed look older than all knew she was, leaving the near fifteen year old girl shaken and noticeably trembling.

Iris still nearby, placing her arm about the girl’s waist, “Sit a minute.” urging her to relax.

Returning from outside. He won’t bother you again.” Rosie said.

Although the old man had thoroughly disgusted her, and there was absolutely no way she wanted him to even touch her, let alone to ‘shove his cock up her skanky, punk ass’, but she did not want him dead.

Fearfully asked: “The gunshot! You ‘didn’t’ kill him, did you?”

“Nah. Scared the shit out of him ‘cause I ain’t allowed to shoot people...” smiling his gold tooth smile “...usually.”

 As at that time…
Giving for the one day time difference.

Pencil like beams of wandering searchlights along with illuminated aerial explosions peppering the black sky, B-29 bombers dropped leaflets over the city, warning that Nagasaki would ‘fall to ashes’ on August 8. The leaflets were confiscated immediately by the Imperial Japanese Army.

                      To The Japanese People

America asks that you take immediate heed of what we say on this leaflet.

We are in possession of the most destructive explosive ever devised by man. A single one of our newly developed atomic bombs is actually the equivalent in explosive power to what 2000 of our giant B-29s can carry on a single mission.

This awful fact is one for you to ponder and we solemnly assure you it is grimly accurate.

We have just begun to use this weapon against your homeland. If you still have any doubt, make inquiry as to what happened to Hiroshima when just one atomic bomb fell on that city.

Before using this bomb to destroy every resource of the military by which they are prolonging this useless war, we ask that you now petition the Emperor to end the war.

Our president has outlined for you the thirteen consequences of an honorable surrender. We urge that you accept these consequences and begin the work of building a new, better and peace-loving Japan.

You should take steps now to cease military resistance. Otherwise, we shall resolutely employ this bomb and all our other superior weapons to promptly and forcefully end the war.

                      EVACUATE YOUR CITIES.

                ATTENTION JAPANESE PEOPLE.

                    EVACUATE YOUR CITIES.

Your continued weaving of the story works. And I'm certainly glad that Margery's first encounter, while going badly, turned out both well, on her part, and assisted by Rosie's intervention, so expertly.

If Jack comes back with his tail between his legs, he will certainly act much differently and spend his 20 wisely. But probably never again on that wise girl with the punch that breaks noses.

I hope Margery's next customer is doable. You interweave a sobering narrative of the war.
