Probably few read it,
Save the insomniacs,
Discovering a child slapped by a parent,
Yesterday’s morning,
Today’s morning
And most likely
Tomorrow’s morning.
Or…
Of the mentally bruised homeless woman,
Innocently squatting in the street to urinate.
Then…
The ever-present true madness of many
Smiling at the smoke of conquest rising above a bombarded city,
Where scattered and smashed corpses
Clutter the rubble like discarded cigarette butts,
Ashes flying about without purchase,
To disappear in the ether of humanity’s self-destruction.
Might…
The presence of an invisible tribunal
Find an insufferable number of images to thumb through,
Too many delusional stories to listen to?
Power mongering amongst the evil dead still walking,
Or sitting playing a game of gin,
Finds the gloating of madness over the prisoner rapes and other tortures
Are notched on their bandoliers of delusional peace.
As far as bodies littering the landscape, ancient wars often were fought man-to-man with mass slaughter as a result. But the victor often rated the loser's territory and killed the children and raped the wives.
