Truth’s Gambit
In the layered folds of the psyche,
Truth’s gambit is played out
In a silent chess match
Save for the chess-clock punches,
Where every move
Holds the possibility of a revelation.
Reality’s pieces call to account,
Knights of chance leap
Over pawns of certainty.
Prescience Bishops cut through deception’s fog.
Commanding the board
Is the Queen,
Fierce and inflexible,
Her shadow of presence
Undeniable,
Yielding absolute power.
While…
The King,
Fragile and vulnerable,
Hides behind fortress walls of pretense,
Guarded and protected by his rooks of denial.
Moves become more calculated,
Each decision more conscious
Of the inevitable checkmate
Of the weaker side.
Somewhere on the battlefield,
Truth takes a stalwart stand,
Maskless and unafraid.
So goes this diversional battle
Resulting in a confrontation
Where there are no winners or losers,
Only the clarity of fatuous behavior
When the final stand fails
And the rules of engagement
Are laid bare of weaponized dishonesty.
The duplicitous armament of desperation
Will have to wait for the next challenge
Of Truth’s Gambit.
What a wonderful allegory using chess compare with the upcoming battle for the vote and ultimate supremacy. Like our government, modeled after the English government and all the monarchies of Western civilization.
Perhaps, next time you could honor us with an allegory using Monopoly. Another enduring game that mimics the way we are.
