Innocence Lost
A gentle flight,
Unseen, unnoticed.
A tiny life,
Caught in the rush of wind,
Unaware of the danger in the path ahead.
The world blurs by
With the dance of light and shadow
Until the sudden stop.
A silent collision.
The unseen force of a windshield..
Wings outstretched,
Caught in the moment
Of life interrupted by the speed of progress.
An existence extinguished,
Leaving behind but a smear
Of wings spread wide,
Frozen in time,
A silent testament,
To the fragility of life.
The road stretches on,
Unforgiving, relentless
In its quest for speed.
Unyielding and indifferent
To the small life lost,
It stretches further into
The relentless wake of progress.
Dust settles.
Rain washes away the memory of a brief life,
Erasing any trace of innocence lost.
On the more humorous side, the story goes something like… As the bug realized when it tasted its ass coming through its mouth… "I guess I won't have the guts to do that again."
