Ever wonder about the afterlife? One person discovers the truth
I must have walked by here at least once a day for the last few years, and this was the first time I ever noticed the colorful structure nestled among the trees next to the path. Curious I walked over to investigate and was surprised to see an open door.

I yelled a greeting which was met with silence. Something compelled me to overcome my normal cautiousness and walk in. While I didn’t recognize the complex steering and mechanical systems, everything else was familiar. In fact, it was beautiful – painted and decorated in my favorite colors. Practical implements mingled with decorative ones. I was happy to see several paper books including a leather-bound handwritten journal. A blanket casually strewn across a chair led me to believe the structure was inhabited.

I didn’t know why but I felt compelled to wait for the owner’s return. I sat in one of the chairs and opened the journal, which turned out to contain a log of trips. I was surprised to see it, whatever it was, had arrived from a place completely unknown to me.

As I flipped through the pages, my confusion increased. The language on the various entries changed and while all the voyages left from the same place, they never ended at the same place twice. Furthermore, I had no idea of the whereabouts of most of the destinations. Strangely enough, while I was confused, I wasn’t scared. In fact, I didn’t remember ever feeling calmer.

Suddenly I heard a pleasant voice behind me. Filled with warmth, I turned around to identify my host, only to see an empty space. “Don’t be afraid, I have come to reward you for all the good you have done”, the voice said. “What about the bad”, I asked, “there’s been plenty of bad.”

“Yes, you have not been perfect, but you ended up with a good heart.”

“Who are you – God, Budha, Mohammed?”

“I am anyone you want me to be” he continued “I have come to take you to your reward.”

“Where is that,” I asked. “Heaven? Will I be reunited with old loves, both people and pets?”

“Or will I be reincarnated, coming back as a higher life form?”

“Or will I become a sunbeam, merge into the universe as pure energy, or just cease to be”?

“All in good time,” the voice answered, “but before we begin our journey, would you like to revisit any of your past? Many people like to return to a variety of happy times in their lives. Most like to start at the beginning, and focus on each of the people, places and things that brought them joy. Maybe stop and say a quick goodbye to those in your current life”

“Yes,” I agreed, “that would be wonderful.” As we passed through my life, my companion took on many forms: parents, friends, lovers, pets, sunsets and sunrises, golden meadows, whatever I remembered was laid before me as if I were physically there. My companion confirmed this. “You are actually reliving the events as we race through time from the beginning of your life as you know it to its end.” Finally, our vessel stopped I felt enveloped in warmth as my companion said, “And now, the time has come for you to learn the truth about the afterlife. It lies just outside the door.” I took a step forward, opened the door, and stepped outside to ...

Earth-centric Humanity at the Crossroads by Martin Treon

For the reasons I describe in this book, the world-wide suffering, death and extinction of humanity is very likely to occur, unless nonviolent and democratically determined radical and revolutionary personal and societal actions and changes are taken
