A woman travels through time without the aid of a machine.
I attended a Victorian ball last month. Unfortunately, that bore, Edmond, approached me before my dance card was full. I had no choice but to accompany him to the floor and spin around the room counting the seconds until I could sit down. My dearest George noticed my discomfort and made sure I was claimed by him or one of his friends the rest of the evening. He let society know his intentions by escorting me home.
While the ball was fun, I felt a little too constricted so I visited the roaring twenties the following week. WOW The new shorter skirts made dancing easy and the bathtub gin flowed. I must admit I got a little tipsy and flirted with several guys. William wasn稚 thrilled with my behavior, but I convinced him he was my one and only when he drove me home, if you know what I mean?
While the Victorian Era was too staid for me, the Roaring Twenties were too hectic. I decided to hit a happy medium and attend an 18th Century Parisian salon. It was amazing! There I was brushing elbows with some of the most talented artists, critical thinkers and noted authors of the time. Amazingly enough, I was privy to the thinking that formed the early roots of the Revolution.
While this was my favorite trip so far, I realized I知 just not that intellectual. I found something to like in every place I visited but nothing quite hit the mark so I知 staying home this week to evaluate future journeys.
Several places and times intrigue me. I plan to cross the Nile with Cleopatra, have dinner with Antonin Scola and Ruth Bader-Ginsberg, model for Monet, and picnic in Sherwood Forest with Robin Hood and Maid Merion. The longer I think about it, the longer the list gets.
I知 lucky I am able to do all this time travel without the aid of a machine. As wardrobe supervisor at the Broadway Theater, I handle all the costumes. Every time I touch a period piece, I知 magically transported to the appropriate setting. With such a huge collection at my disposal, the sky is the limit. Which reminds me, I値l have to fly with Lindberg or Earhart and explore the future with the crew of the Enterprise.
But today. I think I値l take the day off work to do my favorite things. I値l hang out all comfy, cozy in my warm sweats, cuddle my dog and watch reruns of my favorite sitcoms. While the trips are stimulating, I知 always glad to return to the present day. As Dorothy once said, 典here痴 no place like home.
