We may not think of it but the day we are born is the day we start dying because as each day goes by, we are getting older and then one day we look in the mirror and see this person with gray hair and wrinkles and wonder where has the years gone, it was like yesterday I was born and life was going to be a long journey but it goes by quickly.

It's funny how we think as a child. We feel the days are so long and there's so much we can do to fill them. We look forward to the next day as we play with our friends and make up stories of what we want to be one day, feeling like that's a long ways to wait. Next thing it's our birthday again. Imagine another year older and we have to wait another long year before we can celebrate again.
Then we are soon a teenager, falling in love for the first time. We think to ourselves this is the one I'll marry one day. He or she is everything I'd ever want. Oh yes and then comes the day your heart is broken and you think you'll never get over it but time goes by. You think back to when you were just a little kid playing with your friends and sharing all your toys and stories of when you grow up.
Well here you are, graduated from school and spent ten  years in university and has become sucessfulI in a career as a professional Medical Doctor, with much knowledge to help others and diagnose health problems being compassionate with each patient. Now you think to yourself I'm twenty-eight  and I have a whole life ahead of me. But how quick these last ten years have gone.
You meet that perfect person and you boith marry, have a family and before you know it.
Twenty more years have passed and I'm now forty-eight. Where have the years gone. Your kids are grown and going to university. After several years they are sucured in their professions and no longer dependent on you. You are both left alone and you again realize the years are quickly passing and along with it you are both aging.
Now you become grandparents and are looking forward to your retirement, how and when did this happen. Yesterday I was a young parent with a profession as a medical doctor. We can't remember the time passing me by.
We retire and find we are starting to slow down a bit and wonder how many years do we have left. We have to decide how to spend the rest of our life before that dreadful day comes and we become ill and no longer able to enjoy life.
Our grandchildren visit when they can and our children with their spouses when they find the time. We realize we haven't really taken time to do things for ourselves over the years. We were to busy with our careers and raising a family to think of us.
We decide it's time to travel and see some of the world, all those places we were planning to visit but we let life get in the way.
The Bahamas was so beautiful, all the memories and pictures to pass on to our grandchildren. Then Paris a very stunning and romantic city. After travelling to many other places we are getting tired and it's time to go home. Time to relax and take it easy. Time for us to accept that age has caught up to us before we knew it.
Now we are in constant pain, our backs are shot and our legs can't do the steps anymore. We find we can't do the things we once did but inside our minds when we are sitting with no pain, we feel we could still do anything we want until we try to get up. We look in the mirror and see different folks staring back at us. When did this happen we don't recall then we think of how quick the years have gone by.
Now we are in our late seventies, we depend on our grandchildren to come and help with the snow clearing in the winter and lawn mowing in the summer. We receive meals on wheels with care givers coming three times a week. A housekeeper keeps our home neat and clean, and then the day comes when we are placed in a seniors home where we can get the proper care we need, never expecting that day would ever come because it seems that yesterday we were young and full of energy. Today we getting out of our bed with the help of a lift, we spend hours in a wheelchair and need a careworker to clean us when we soil.
The children come once or twice a week to visit and when it's possible the grandchildren come with the great grandkids to visit. Oh how we wish we could turn back time to our youth but the truth is the day we were born was the day we started dying so I guess we are now at the stage in our lives where we wait day after day until there are no days left. We are in our late eighties and we had a happy full life. We've done a lot and seen a lot in our time so we have no regrets accept not having more years with our family. Most of our friends and relatives have passed over many years. We are thankful for all the years we've been blessed with.
We pray that when that day comes, our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren knows how much they meant to us, how much we loved them and that we are sorry that we got old so quick.

That my friends and family is how life goes, day by day, year after year starting off slow and before you know it time has past you by quickly.

Thank you for alowing me to write what I feel.
