Plain field man it’s been a long time since your crimes shocked our nation, and most likely the entire world. But as with all deeds, no matter where they may lie on the scale from magnificent to diabolical, once they’ve been committed, they and their aftermath form part of an undeniable history which, admittedly in years to come, some may try to “spin” so as to achieve reactions which differ from those which they initially generated in the populace. And, besides that just mentioned phenomenon of perhaps “looking at things differently in years to come,” isn’t the question of what prompted certain individuals to commit the most heinous crimes of years gone by another perplexity left for people of the future?

And, I suppose in a very sad and perhaps inappropriate way, can’t it be said that the most vile killers lived as the ultra-non-conformists? And, did they and their actions, and what often were not much more than slaps upon their wrists as punishments, encourage others to enter the realm of criminality? Yet, isn’t it perplexing that we can’t say with certainty what the motivations for gruesome acts were. But, I doubt it will matter if those who read these words ever learn whose malicious actions served as the springboard for this written piece. Nonetheless, before I continue, I’d like to claim as pertinent a disclosure which a writer once made concerning how he now carries on in a world where millions were once murdered in concentration camps before he was born. He simply said that political or non-political justifications of any type (meaning I’d suspect from either the left or right wings of the political spectrum), made concerning any unlawful deeds, especially killings, weren’t believed by, and didn’t fool him.

But plain field man it’s said that during the brief years of your formal education you were fairly good at reading. And now today I’m wondering if that’s why I’ve been summoned to write these observations based upon the malevolent deeds you committed. Oh, I’ve always thought every factor of human life which is capable of being deemed constructive has its own guardian angel. And if that supposition is correct, then it must have been literature’s angel who required I write these words!

Nonetheless, let’s never forget that the dreadful assassins, the dastardly arsonists, and the nefarious thieves of art and time can only confiscate and steal all they covet in the temporal present. And far away from them and their evil deeds lies an undeniably real eternity. And thus, it might be well for mortals to remember that foul acts are in the least unfortunate, and at their worst (such as yours were), dreadful and diabolical.

But here’s perhaps a valid promise to keep whenever we learn of any uncalled for action, be it to any degree between mild and iniquitous: Whenever any figment of either self or humanity based pity seeks to influence my life to a point at which I myself cross over into any measure of evil, I’ll fight that figment! And I’ll make a commitment to myself that every day I’ll take time (though my friends may think me insane for doing so) to acknowledge the fact that on every day I’ve grown a little older, and a little less of my life remains to be lived. And speaking of life’s end prompts me to ask these questions. Were you involved in your brother’s mysterious death? How much were you affected by your mother’s strangeness? And were you connected to any of the disappearances about which you were questioned?

I suppose we’ll never really know the answers to the just asked questions. But we’ll think about them sometimes. And sometimes we’ll recall the most heinous members of humanity’s family, of which you were one. And when we find our minds straying back to great evil, we’ll sometimes feel like the party goers who never reached the party because they ran off the road on the way there, and one or two of them were actually hurt in the resulting accident. But maybe that was the incident which impressed upon them life’s most timeless matter of fact i.e., time forever carries on; and eventually leaves all that is of the Earth behind it through either death or some other type of dissolution.

But isn’t simple carelessness really the root of most evil? Don’t people have guidelines which tell them about proper living? Or have those guidelines been reinterpreted by leftist radicals over the years? Have they been rewritten to make sure everyone remains subservient to a socialist/communist elite?

And yet, God, it’s so amazing how eras come and go! They come and go while being carried along by clock hands which document their passage, yet can’t discover why they change as years pass. But as far as what’s been written here is concerned, we know that the man from the plain field also failed to understand life’s true meaning, yet did find a use for its end! And I unfortunately remember being teased because of you as a seven year old. “Watch out” said some of my classmates who’d heard about you on the news (I hadn’t), E.G. might get you.”
