A young teenaged girl talks about how independent she is, and how she realizes that people can't always agree with her philosophy in life or her beliefs.
I am a teenaged girl. I am going to be 14 years old in just 15 days (two weeks from tomorrow!).
I am my own person. I have likes or interests that nobody else shares; and I also have interests or likes that put me much in common with other kids my age. For example, I love music, but I like country and Cajun music while most kids my age prefer rock or rap. While most kids my age like people like Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Michael Jackson, or Snoop Doggy Dog, I listen to people like Loretta Lynn or Alan Jackson! I also love sports; but I would rather play tackle football than softball or tennis, which is what most girls at my school like. They also like soccer. I like soccer, too, but football is more my style, especially if it's tackle football! That's right: I love to play tackle football; that's where all the action is, man! :)
As for things I believe in, I believe in standing up for what I feel is right, and that includes my belief in my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. I am a born-again Christian (I accepted Jesus into my life nearly 2 years ago, when I was 12), and I find nothing wrong with professing my love for Him or telling others about His Free Gift of Eternal Life and Salvation from one's sins. I read the Bible each and every day, and I am very involved with my church. (I go to Christ Community Assembly of God Church each and every Sunday and Wednesday, and I also go there on Thursdays for choir practice.)
Of course, you may not agree with me on my stand in the way of religion or understand my likes or interests; but that is part of what makes me ME, and I happen to enjoy life! I am a tomboy in nature, and I also have a soft "feminine" side when the time calls for it; but more likely than not, you'll find me playing f-ball with the guys and getting down and dirty with them during a game, or find me dressed in grotty clothes and looking very much like a tramp! For me, jeans, sweatshirts or tee shirts or soft, comfy tennies is my clothing style, and often I will have a baseball cap parked atop my head! I do NOT like wearing dresses or skirts; and I do NOT like people looking at my skinny legs with the knobby knees! Yeah, so what if I am skinny: at least I get my exercise each and every day! It's better than sitting around, snacking on jungle food or watching mindless drivel on tv, most of which is not suitable for family viewing!
Yeah, people DO pick on me--a LOT! But I just ignore them and go about my own business; however, if they dare make comments about my parents or my family or my faith in Jesus Christ, believe you me, I will get mad and probably will be ready to fight! I have gotten in more than my share of fights (something of which I am NOT proud of at all, but hey, I have to defend myself SOMEHOW!), but a lot of people have learned to leave me alone and steer clear out of my way when I get into one of my "mad moods"! I am NOT the nicest person when I am good and mad!
But I am proud of who I am, and I am proud of what I have done since I was adopted 4 years ago! If it were not for my family, I wouldn't have a home or a chance, let alone, a LIFE that is interesting! I DEFINITELY do have that: an interesting life! :)

This is nice too. I think we were there at one time or another while growing up; and yes, we are all individuals, and most very often we think differently and our religions differ from one another, but that does not mean the other person is bad.
Your writing is so good it always brings across good messages.
I can relate to this girl (especially the tomboy part...almost sounds exactly like me when I was coming up, down to football and the grotty clothes. Nice work!
