A young girl writes of the actions of her father, who regularly abuses her mother on a daily basis. He is also abusive to the children.
My name is Tamantha Davis, and I am a child of an abusive parent. I am 11 years old, and I wish that I could just go and live with my NeeNee Grace in Chattanooga. Or I wish I could just run away to my best friend Gemini Sandusky's house and stay with her family! Her family is nice; and there is no yelling or hitting at HER house!
My father, Alvin, is not a very nice man. He is mean, very mean. He is especially mean to my mother; and he hits her. He is always yelling obscenities at her, and he is always doing his best to make her cry or make her feel bad about herself. He is always yelling at me and my little sisters, Jordan (she's 9) and Trysta (she's six), and he makes us feel like we are prisoners in our own home.
Daddy is always calling mom nasty names, and he is always belittling her (and us); and he seems to delight in getting a rise out of us or hitting us, hard, with his hands. We are always terrified because we don't know when he is going to fly off the handle, and being around him is like walking on eggshells. He's hit me so hard sometimes I have bruises; and when I go to school, I sometimes have to try to hide them, or if teacher notices them, I make up a lie and tell her that I fell down the stairs or ran into something hard again and that I promise that I'll be more careful from now on. And one time he hit Trysta so hard he knocked her unconscious; and she ended up in the hospital for a few days with a concussion. I was so scared because I thought he had actually killed my baby sister.
And it is so hard whenever I hear him screaming at mom night after night, and it about kills me when I hear mom screaming or crying in terrified tones; and I am always afraid that he is going to kill her or kill Jordan or Trysta; and my body breaks out in a cold sweat, and my heart hammers inside my chest, which feels like it is about to burst open from fear and terror. I don't sleep good at night because of daddy's drunken or abusive rages; and at times I wish I could just kill him, he gets me so mad and so upset! I HATE my daddy, and I wish that he could just go away and never come back home!!
heartbreaking...but oh, too common...this made me cry. why do parents have children, and then treat them so badly? why do daddies and mommies get married, and then spend the whole time fighting? the children...pray for the children...God help them. :( powerful, emotional write...written through the eyes of a child...well done! :( (((((((HUGS))))))) and love, karla. :( *tears*
