A young girl with arthritis keeps her friends up to date on her health woes.
March 23, 2003~
I am feeling a LITTLE better, but I am still hurting pretty badly. But I am glad to say that I am no longer throwing up.
Glad that is behind me. I absolutely HATE to throw up! It's NASTY!
This flare was pretty bad, as far as flares go. I was sick for about a week, and for a while there I thought I was going to have to go into the hospital because my chest was hurting so badly. And I was so sore and so stiff I could barely move; but then I had a few hot baths, to help unstiffen my tight joints; and they have seemed to have done the trick.
But I probably won't go to school this week. I will probably just take it easy and the only time I will get out is to go to my physical therapy sessions at the hospital, and to get some of my prescriptions filled. I am getting low on my pills; and when one hurts as badly as I do a lot of the time, that is NOT a good thing! :(
My friend, Ronee', was in the hospital earlier this year due to a flare; she was having a lot of chest pain and trouble with her breathing, and she was so sore she couldn't move without crying out in pain. So she went into the hospital, but ever since then, she has been doing great! (She was in the hospital for about a week.) But even despite that, she still gets around better than me; and sometimes I get mad at her because of this! (Isn't that a stupid thing to get mad about??)
I often wish I didn't have this arthritis junk. It is a big pain (literally!! LOL), and it prevents me from doing a lot of things. I often need help with getting dressed, and I can't get around as good as I would like. At times, I absolutely HATE my crutches, and I HATE my wheelchair. People see me or my crutches (or my wheelchair), and they tend to feel sorry for me. I get SO mad when they do that! I may have a handicap that is beyond my control, but I am a PERSON first, and I wish people would talk TO me instead of ABOUT me behind my back! Don't they know I can hear everything they say?? How would THEY like it if I talked about THEM behind their backs? Then they'd know just how it feels! >:(
the age that you're writing at is very convincing, as is the worldview. i like this alot. you've taken a distant issue for the young and made it relevant. excellent work, writer.
