Johnny Sandusky, aged 10, continues writing of things that have been bothering him as well as some good things that have happened in his life.
~~March 25, 2003~~
Private Johnny Sandusky reporting for duty, sir! (SORry!) :)
I am writing about things that have happened lately. You already know that I have been struggling every day with my muscular dystrophy and with my breathing. You also know that we are at war with Iraq and they don't know how long this war will go on.
I had been doing okay with my health, but over the weekend, I had another spell with my seizures; and I had to go to the emergency room to get checked out because I kept having one seizure after another, and I was starting to have some trouble with my breathing (more than what I usually have). Mommy said my face was all blue, and she got scared; so she called for the paramedics, who took me to the hospital in an ambulance. I had to get tests done, and my poor little arms are all sore and bruised from when they kept poking me. It was found that my one seizure medication was no longer working well for me, so they put me on something stronger; and it's gotten my head in a fog, and I feel so bumfuzzled and confused! :( (I was in the hospital for overnight; I got to go home the next day, but I still don't feel all the way right. I still feel like I am in a fog. And my body still feels like it's been used for a punching bag; I am still sore all over!)
School is going okay for me, and I am over my anger at failing that one test I had last time I wrote. I just hope it doesn't happen again because I HATE failing! I used to have such trouble with my learning (and I still do), but since I got the extra help at Sylvan, I am doing MUCH better! But I still can have an off day, and when I failed that test was one of those times.
I have a new friend! Did I tell you? (No, I guess not!) Her name is Jamie-Leigh Gardner, and she is 10, like me. She just moved into the neighborhood over the weekend (I didn't know anything about it until I had gotten home from the hospital), and she came up and said hi to me. She was really nice, even for a girl! (I don't really like girls excepting for my sisters!) She has long blonde hair and hazel eyes, and she wants to be a country singer when she gets older. She says her favorite singer is Loretta Lynn. She has three older brothers, and they moved here from Chattanooga.
My friend, Jose' Varquez, broke his arm last week. He is now in a cast and sling, and his cast is greeen. And I mean GREEN!! He broke it when his little cousin, Manalo, kicked him by accident. He will be in this cast and sling for at least six weeks. Poor guy looks so miserable because he has to stay inside at recess, and it is really bugging him!
Mommy has been working harder than usual at the hospital where she works, and she has been taking care of a woman from Iraq named Naima Faud. She says the woman now lives here in America, but she lost her leg in the first Iraqi war, and she had an infection in her stump, which is why she is in the hospital. She says that Naimi is nice, and she and her are becoming friends.
Daddy is still working at Wal*Mart, and he's now been there for 2 years now and just got another raise. He is really happy!
My sister, Ronee', was in the hospital last month; she had another flare up of her arthritis. She was in for a week, and she now seems to be doing okay. But lately she has been in a grinchy mood; like today: I said hi to her, and she bit my head off. Hmm. Wonder what's biting her?? Guess I had better stay out of her way 'til she cools off! :(
Well, this is about it for now. I am going to write later. Until next time, this is Johnny Sandusky signing off. 'Bye for now! :)
