Hi! Johnny here. Hope this finds you all well!
I am not doing so good. Am having some problems with my breathing; can't seem to get in a good breath, and am now in bed, on my oxygen. It ~is~ helping, but a little. I am also feeling rather run down; hope I am not coming down with the flu or a cold! (Having something like the cold or the flu is not good when one has muscular dystrophy! :( )
I have been busy with school, between homework assignments, and with the state test, which we took on Wednesday. I don't know how I did on the test, but I sure hope I passed! (All the kids in grades three on up had to take the test. It was to see how well we read and write and know our math and science skills. It was a toughie, but I think I did okay. Well, at least I am HOPING I did okay, or I will be MAD!!!!)
I know Ronee' passed; she always passes those darn things! Boy, I wish I could have borrowed some of HER brain power before I took the test! She is so smart it is SCARY!
We are still at war with Iraq, and it looks like we will be for a long time, according to the news. I don't like the thought of us being at war; war is NOT good for ANYONE, and it never solves anything! All it does is cause misery and grief, and unnecessary loss of life! And those people in Iraq are so mixed up; they hate us Americans, and they will do all they can to hurt us. All of those nations over that way seem to hate America, and I have no clue as to why that is. Is it because we are FREE and they are NOT? Is it because they are Muslim and we are NOT?
Any way, it is NOT a good thing; and I dread watching the news each and every night!
I was worried for a while about the war because my friend, Roberto Sormiento, is in the Reserves (he was in the Marines), and I was so afraid he would have to go to war; but now it seems that he doesn't have to. His wife, M'buti, just had twin babies (a boy and a girl, and their names are Kibarake and Eshe; and they are so CUTE!), and she also has a lot of health problems. So the military people said that he didn't have to go to war, because of his wife's being so badly disabled. (That is good. I would hate to think of Roberto going over and getting killed. That would make me so sad because Roberto is a cool guy! I love him so much; he is like a big brother to me! Or maybe an uncle or even a second daddy!)
I heard from my big brother, Erick, in New York City (where he lives), and he is doing good, too. He made the honor roll again at his school, and he is still on the basketball team. He sent me his new picture, and he really is a handsome dude (if I DO say so myself!). He also told me he has a girlfriend named Ashley, and they are very happy. (UGH! My brother, hanging out with GIRLS! YUCK!! I don't like girls! Well, maybe excepting for my sisters and my new friend, Jamie-Leigh, but THAT is IT! Any other girls can TAKE A HIKE as far as I am concerned! :( )
I sometimes think of the good things that are happening to Erick, and I get sad because I won't get to do things he does because of my muscular dystrophy. I won't be able to drive a car, have a girlfriend, go on dates, or go to my senior prom. It is because I am not expected to live to become a teenager, and that is only a few years away. I am too young to die, and I don't like to think about it, but I can't help it. Each day means I am that much closer to death, and it scares me and makes me sad. I know I am saved and will be with Jesus when I DO die, but still..I am NOT ready, and I don't want to leave my family so soon! I want to live, and I want to become a teenager or maybe even a grownup! I have so much to do, and I have so much to live for! :(
Well, this is about it for now. I am getting worn out from writing; I am going to lie down and sleep for a while. I will write more next time. Until later, take care.
