I am Barbara Sandusky, and I just turned 14 nearly a month back, on the 16th of March. I live in Tennessee with my adoptive family.
I am almost 5' tall, with long, wavy blonde hair, dark-brown eyes, and am very skinny. Can't seem to get any meat on my bones, no matter how much I eat! I am not that great-looking (at least, I don't think so!); in fact, I am rather "plain" in appearance, as far as "looks" go.
I was adopted at the age of nine; my parents died when I was six. They died in a hurricane, in the storm's surge. Somehow, I escaped injury; but it was a very hard and traumatic time for me. I was born in Louisiana, in the tiny Cajun community of Church Point, and I moved to Tennessee when I was nine, where I was then adopted by the family I still live with today.
I am in the ninth grade at Donalson Junior High here in Nashville, Tennessee; it is my last year in junior high school. I will start high school in the fall, and I hope it will be a lot better. School is okay (I do okay, gradewise), but the kids can teat me badly at times. They pick on me because I don't have a boyfriend, and I am not interested in going on dates (one thing, I am too young), and they tease me because I go to church and openly say that I am a Christian.
I am also a fan of country music, and at my school, many kids would rather listen to rock or rap or alternative or new age, stuff I am not interested in; and besides, I like the "real" country, not the "new" country music of people like "The Dixie Chicks", Toby Keith, Shania Twain, or Keith Urban. The country I like is done by people like Loretta Lynn, Conway Twitty, Tammy Wynette, or George Jones! I also love gospel music!
Besides country music, I also love to play sports (and the rougher, the better!) with the guys, play video games, ride my horse, draw or write (stories or poetry), read, play my Cajun accordion (and perform; I sometimes perform on the weekends as part of my family's Cajun country music act), collect rabbits (toy ones, NOT real ones!), and just be with my family and friends. I also love to go to church each and every week. (I was "saved" almost two years ago; I was "saved" in July at a church dramatization of the Book of Revelations.)
I am NOT handicapped in any way, but a lot of my brothers and sisters are. A lot of them have serious physical handicaps, and three (Jodie, Todd, and Roberto) are mentally handicapped as well. Some have very obvious disabilities, but others (like Gemini, Michael, Summer Song, or Camey, as four examples) do not. They have what are known as "hidden" disabilities, meaning that they are disabled, too, but you can't see them. But they still have problems just the same.
I love my adoptive family very much. They were nice enough to take me in when I desperately needed a home, and they have treated me very well. I am so glad I am their daughter, and even though it was very tough at first, I have since gotten used to having brothers and sisters, and it has gotten to the point to where I can't imagine my life without ANY of them! I love them all so much; and I feel blessed that I have them in my life! :)
what a descriptive write about another one of your characters...wow, this is gonna be a long series, if you write about all of them!
