April 11, 2003 (Translated From The Language Of Maasai~)
God, I am so tired: the babies kept me up half the night; they were both in a fussy mood, especially Kibarake, who awoke to a very loose stomach. When I went to check on him, I found him in his crib, his p.j.'s and bedclothes soaked with watery stool. It was ~VERY NASTY~! He was very gassy (not to mention, very runny at the bowels!), and he had one more such episode this morning; but then I gave him something for the dirrhoea, and he is now sleeping soundly, and he hasn't had a problem. (Of course, I called the pediatric doctor, to see if I could get something for Kibarake, and Roberto picked it up just before, and I gave it to him about a half hour ago.) His sister, meanwhile, is okay, but she is now sleeping on our bed, with Roberto laying right beside her, so he can keep a good, close eye on her. She is asleep, too, and I ~FINALLY~ have some moments to myself, to where I can write on my computer!
I don't know what is the matter with little Kibarake, but if he has another bowel movement like he had last night and then earlier today, I just may have to get him to see the doctor. He may have a stomach virus or something; our doctor says there's a lot of flu and other bugs going around, and it's that time of year. He said his office has been very busy. As long as it isn't his being dehydrated or isn't that SARS, then I won't worry! (MUCH) I just hope his sister doesn't get the bug; or I will have TWO sick babies on my hands! :(
SARS is this terrible breathing sickness that has killed over 100 people, especially in China, Vietnam, or that part of the world, and it is spreading. It is like a very severe case of pnewmonia (spelt wrong!), and ppl who have it can die in a hurry if they DON'T get treatment right away. And it is CONTAGIOUS. THAT is SCARY; I don't want to get THAT ~NASTY~ bug; I have had too much in the way of medical problems in the past, and I ~DON'T~ need ANY more complications! :(
I am getting bored being home all the time, stuck with the babies; but they are very young yet, and they need their mommy. They can't do very much for themselves but cry or do the normal "baby things", like poop, pee, and cry to let me (or daddy Roberto) know that they need some sort of attention, whether they be hungry, wet/poopy, bored, or hot (or even cold). They need help with just about everything, and they aren't even rolling around yet! They have also recently learned to smile, both of them, and they are so pretty when they smile!
The war in Iraq is still going on, but the fall of Saddam Hussein is innement. There are looters and people going out of control, acting crazy as they deface pictures or statues of Saddam Hussein, and knocking down statues and stuff; and it is all a crazy, out of control MESS! Saddam hasn't been seen or heard from in about a week, and people think he may have been killed (although THAT hasn't been established yet) when they (the Coalition and American forces) bombed a building they were said to be at. If so, that will be VERY good; that would be one terrorist we'd have to worry less about! :(
Roberto is still working hard, and so is Miss Louisiana; she is keeping me up to date with her family of many children. They are all getting so big, and they are no longer so little. They are all in school (but Kwame', the youngest), and most have homework each and every night. They are also busy with their church, and with other things. Roberto, meanwhile, is also busy being a good father to the children; and despite his crazy, boyish ways, he is so gentle and loving with the children, and he enjoys being around them. It is so funny to see him this way because he is usually so GOOFY! One can never tell WHAT may happen as long as my husband is around!~~
Maybe when the babies are older, and my health holds, I will go back to working at the newspaper I was working at before I became pregnant. I miss my bosses and co-workers, and they are always asking about me. Roberto can watch the children while I am at work, and then I can take over when I get back home. I hope so, because being home all the time is starting to wear thin on my patience, not to mention, my ~NERVES~!! :(
Will write more later. Eshe is awake, and she is starting to cry. Better go and see what is up with her...
