Louisiana writes her children a letter, reminding them of the true reason behind the celebration of the Easter holiday.
April 18, 2003:
My Dearest Children:
I want to write to you today, to remind you that Easter is NOT all about the Easter Bunny, chocolate candies, jelly beans, or colored eggs. Easter is MUCH more than that: SO much more, in fact!
Easter is celebrated because we celebrate the Ressurrection of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. He died for our sins, so we could have Eternal Life if we so choose it (in which we did; because we DID choose Jesus to come into our lives, we are assured a place in Heaven, where we will be with Him forever more!). He suffered and died so we could have life. He took it upon Himself to bear our iniquities and our sufferings because He couldn't stand to see us living in the squalor and darkness of sin.
This is why we celebrate Good Friday; for this was the day where Jesus was crucified on the Cross at Calvary so long ago; and as a result, today is a day of sadness and rememberance of the significance behind the Crucifixion. Today is NOT a day of joy or celebration; today is a day of pause-filled moments and rememberance. Today is a day of sadness and heaviness upon our hearts as we remember that Awful Day where Jesus died for our sins. This is what I want you to remember as we go about our day today.
And Sunday marks the day where Jesus was Ressurrected from the dead and was able to rise into the skies, promising His Children that He would return someday (which He WILL). This is why Easter Sunday is so important to the Christian people because it is a day of rejoicing and celebration. This is why we go to church and sing His Songs of Praise and Worship; and this is why everyone is so happy. Jesus is STILL ALIVE, even today, and it is a day of incredible celebrarion and joy. Yes, Easter does mean Easter Bunnies, candy, and dyed Easter eggs, but JESUS is the MAIN focus of the Easter holiday, and it is up to US to remember that and to remind others of that. Too many times, Jesus is shoved aside as man celebrates things of the earth, but we don't have to be like that. We choose to celebrate the Ressurrection of our Lord and Saviour, and this is what I want to stress to you today. Yes, today is a sad day, but we have Sunday to look forward to, and if we can just remember the significance of Good Friday, then Easter will seem all that more special.
I hope you take this into heart when you read this letter and never lose focus on the TRUE meaning behind why we celebrate Easter. May you all have a very blessed (and safe) Easter holiday, and remember that I love you all with my heart and soul!

I think it was a wonderful piece of writing that conveyed to the reader the true meaning of Easter. I sent it to my kids.
