M'Kaya Mnjama, who is now married to Franklin Jefferson, shares with her friends in a letter the big news that has occurred in her life. She and her husband have been married for 6 months, and she has found out that she is two months pregnant with their first child.

Dear All~
This is M'Kaya Mnjama speaking from the Big Apple. I hope this letter finds you all well, especially Louisiana Sandusky and her family, and Mama Jefferson back home in Nashville.
Mama, I have some exciting news for you to share. To put it bluntly, you are going to be a GRANDMA! I am two months pregnant with child! I didn't think it would happen so soon, but it did; and now I am EXPECTING! So break out the old crib I used as a wee child (that is, if you still have it!), and start looking for baby clothes! (I DON'T know the sex of the baby yet; it's too soon to tell, but as soon as I find out, I'll be the first to let you know!!) And please, by all means, GET DIAPERS!
Franklin and I have been very happy these past 6 months, it's the happiest I have been ever since leaving home. I still miss you very much, Mama, but you are never far from my heart, and I hope this finds you well and happy. Franklin treats me like a queen, and he is my Everything. He is so compassionate and understanding of me and my limitations, and he treats me with dignity and respect. He is everything in a man I could have ever hoped (or dreamed) for, and I am so blessed to have found him. He is a very special person, and each day I just love him all the more!
And Louisiana: how are you doing? Are you still as busy as you were when I left Nashville? How is your family doing? I hope this letter finds you all well and happy. Are you adopting any more children? How are the two sisters doing, the ones from Cambodia? (I can't remember their names for the LIFE of me!) How are Johnny and Ronee' doing? I heard Johnny has been doing terrific in school, and I heard that Johnny has been doing pretty good, in relation to his health. I hope he hasn't been sick; I worry about him, you know. Such a young man, and such heartache he has to face! It is NOT fair! And I heard that Ronee' was on "Star Search" earlier this year! Wow, that must have been EXCITING for all of you! How did she do? Did she make it into the finals? Please let me know; she really has a future ahead of her in music! She is a star in the making, and I miss hearing her beautiful voice!
And how are Roberto and M'buti doing? I haven't heard from them in months. Are they even still ALIVE or still living in Nashville? It's as though they have disappeared off the face of the earth, and I got to thinking about them the other day! PLEASE let me know as to how they are doing and what is up with them!
Wendie Malick, my friend back here in New York, is still looking for work. Meanwhile, I am still on total disability, getting a check each and every month. Wendie has been sick lately; been having a lot of bladder and kidney infections. Poor dear has been through so much, ever since her birth! She says to tell all of you hello! She said it was a pleasure to have met all of you when we came to visit at Christmas time!
I trust you all had a good Easter holiday. We did; we ate like PIGS, and I am STILL full (BURP)!! We also went to church for special Easter services, and it was really beautiful! We really didn't do much except relax and visit with Wendie's family.
It has FINALLY warmed up here in NYC; we sure have had a WINTER! For a while, I didn't think we would EVER see spring; we had snowstorm after snowstorm, and it was SO HARD trying to get from place to place, especially on MY account! NOT so easy trying to navigate the deep snow on CRUTCHES! YIKES!! Now, we FINALLY have warmer weather, and the snow has FINALLY melted! It was getting to the point to where if I saw just one more snowflake, I was gonna' SCREAM!!! AGGGGHHHH!!!!! :0
My MS has been behaving itself for the most part; but I HAVE been dizzy lately (and that is because I am preggers). I have had to use my wheelchair more lately (not so much my crutches now, especially since I AM pregnant!), and I am scared of falling, for fear I might hurt the baby inside me. GOD, I HOPE that doesn't happen (think PLEASANT thoughts, M'Kaya!!)! I don't know what I would DO if anything should happen to the baby! I would just DIE!!
Well, I shall continue this later on; but I just wanted to write and let you know that I am thinking of each and every one of you, and that Franklin and I both send y'all our love and best wishes. I also wanted to let you know what was up with us. Now you know. And I will continue to write and keep you updated, in terms of the progression of my pregnancy. You all take care of yourselves, and be good! I love youse guys!
