A little girl talks about herself and how life is for her.
Welcome to my world!
My world is a world full of many obstacles I have had to learn to overcome, and because of them, I am sometimes not treated very fairly. I am physically disabled, and I rely on forearm crutches or leg braces to get around, and I sometimes use a wheelchair on my bad days. (The reason I use crutches for walking--that, or a wheelchair--is because I have systemic-onset juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, which I have had since I was just four years old.) I have also been in and out of the hospital for different things in my life, and I have had to learn to put up with many unpleasant situations in life.
My world is also full of love, joy, and laughter. I have a large family who loves me and accepts me for who I am, not for WHAT I am, and I also have a very good relationship with my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. (I became saved at the age of seven, nearly 3 years ago. It will be 3 years in July.)
I am very busy with my church, and I look forward to going to church each and every week. I also look forward to telling others about Jesus, and I am always eager to tell other people about my testimony, and why the Lord has been so good to me.
My world is also filled with much in the way of music: country, gospel, and Cajun. I am a professional singer, and I sing country/western and Cajun mainly; but lately, I have been doing a lot of gospel music (especially when I sing at my church). I play several different musical instruments, and I enjoy singing and performing in front of people. I have been lucky to have met many big name stars in country music, and I have had the honor of opening up shows for people like Loretta Lynn, Alan Jackson, "Alabama", and George Jones.
My world is also filled with studying for school, and I pride myself on making the best grades I possibly can. School has always been easy for me. And I happen to enjoy it very much. I have a lot of friends at school, and I love my teachers, especially Mrs. Hemingway, who is my main teacher in the Gifted/Talented class I am in. I also enjoy being with my best friend, Nicole Aldape, who is presently trying to cope with her daddy's death. She is really upset, and it is all she can do to keep from crying. But all I can do is be a good friend to her, and pray for her peace of mind and for comfort. (Her daddy died in a car wreck on Easter Sunday.)
My world is also full of times to be a kid. I love to play with my brothers and sisters, and I love to spend time with my friends when I am at school or church, or even in the neighborhood. I may be a busy little girl, but I find plenty of time for fun!
So even though I am disabled, I manage to have a very active and very happy life. I have so much to live for, and I have been blessed beyond measure. I have overcome so much in life, and I don't see why there is no reason I can't stop now and not accomplish even more. The Lord has so much in store for me, and frankly, I can't wait to see what He has planned for me next!
