Louisiana Sandusky continues where she left off yesterday before the power went out. She is still at the hospital, unable to get home to her family, as the streets are flooded.
I am back, now that the power here has FINALLY kicked back on!

I am still at the hospital, sitting with Ronee', who is now eating a corned beef sandwich with lettuce and tomato; she is feeling a little better, but she is still plenty sore. (It is lunchtime here at the hospital.) She wants to go home, but she will have to stay in at least a few more days, until this weather settles down some.

We are still under a severe weather threat, and it will be until at least Thursday before the threat FINALLY starts to go away. Until then, we will just have to wait here and hope that no other "weather surprises" pay us a visit. I haven't been able to get back home to Bill and the other children because a lot of the streets and yards are flooded, and it is hard trying to drive around in the rising waters. So until then, I guess I am stuck here at the hospital. (Oh, JOY....)

I called Bill earlier, to see if our house is flooded; but to our relief, it is NOT. We live on a high hill, and so far, our house has been spared; but there is no power (excepting for the generator-induced power that will keep our power on until the regular electric power snaps back on; this is necessary because we have some kids who require oxygen). And the kids are still scared spitless (excepting for Johnny, who is probably enjoying this weather right now; he LIVES for this kind of weather; WHY, I DON'T know, but he DOES!). Ronee' is rather worried, too (I can see it in her eyes, and her face looks a bit pale from fear), but she is trying to busy her mind by focusing on eating her sandwich and drinking her Coke. I try to reassure her that all will soon be well, and that, if she gets scared, she can always pray to Jesus. I also tell her that the family is fine, and so is the house; and that seems to calm her somewhat.

I am still in my stinky nurse's uniform, and I have no change of clothes on me. I guess I must smell pretty rich by now. I hate smelling like this because I am a clean, fastidious person by nature, and being dirty is just not MY cup of tea! I blame this all on the weather; after all, the weather was what brought me (and Ronee') to the hospital in the first place! (Stupid hail....)

The streets here are flooded; you can't see the road or the grass; what you CAN see of the road or grass is NOT much. For now, there have been no tornado warnings, but we are still on the edge of a tornado watch, and we have at least several more hours to go. I haven't heard the sirens go off in about a half hour; but I am still nervous. The sky is still boiling with angry, bruised-black storm clouds (especially to the east of us; the heaviest of the weather has gone by for now), and it is still rather dark and gloomy out, with lightning lighting up the darkened sky, and the thunder crashing; but for now, it seems like the heaviest of the rain has passed on by--until the next round comes. Poor Ronee' doesn't like storms, and each time the thunder booms or the lightning flashes, she grabs me by the arm, her face white wih terror, and her dark eyes shining with fear. I try to be calm for her, but it is hard when I am scared, myself!

Uh-oh...incoming patients; gotta go and continue this at a later time!
