     By Roy E Edwards
When I was very young I wanted to use magic but I didn’t have any, everybody said so; and even if I did, they said you wouldn’t know how to use it. So of course I thought I didn’t have magic and for awhile I never even looked. That was then, I think differently now because I think for myself. Maybe that’s all magic really is, a different way of thinking, of viewing the world and some small skill perhaps, to put magic into practice, to use it. That is to say, to learn how to use ones difference so to speak, to make a difference. To add, to bring, or give if you like something to the world that wasn’t there before, or if it was it just sort of occupied space inside your head.
So I started using magic, but it took an absolute age, most all my life really, before anyone other than a few people close to me, recognised; well, realised I guess that that was what I was doing, using magic. I think maybe it took such a long time because I used magic to form words, rather than to form other more needful things. It’s all a bit odd really because I never thought I had any. I always thought magic belonged to some few gifted ones. It wasn’t until I actually decided to use it that I realised it had been there all along, sort of waiting I guess, to be recognised. Which made me think that maybe there is magic inside everyone, magic inside us all. We just need to find out what kind of magic it is because it’s a little different in all of us. Thing is when you find out, well, you really need to use it. Sort of work at it, or with it should I say, because if you don’t you just might not recognise what your special magic is and if you never use it, if you never even try, well, it seems to me you do yourself great disfavour because if it is never used, not even in the tiniest way, it sort of might fade away, and you the poorer for its going, even though you were not aware it was there in the first place.
