A doctor with a significant disability brings his young patients hope and healing.
There is a doctor at the hospital where my mom works that is an inspiration to many.
For starters, he is physically disabled, and he walks with braces and forearm crutches because of spina bifida, which he was born with. Yet that didn't stop him from achieving his dream to become a doctor.
Dr. Wayne Wright has been an anesthiologist for over 12 years now, and every time people go to him for surgery, they are always amazed at how well he does his job, and they are always amazed at his ability to calm nervous patients before they go under for surgery; and he won't leave their side until he makes sure that all is well afterwards.
Dr. Wright used to work with all ages, but recently he started working with the children, and he absolutely loves his job. Nothing satisfies him more than to help young children feel better or help them through the hospital experience, and he will do all he possibly can to make sure that no problems arise. He is a very caring and loving man, and I have seen him at work; and a nicer, more dedicated doctor would definitely be hard to come by!
My mom has known Dr. Wright for over 5 years, and they are good friends. Sometimes she'll bring him home for dinner if he isn't working, and we all like him. Daddy likes him, too. (Dr. Wright isn't married; he was, but he is divorced now, and he has two daughters he is raising himself. When he is at work, his mother watches the little girls. His daughters are named Destiny Nicole and Taylor Natasha, and they are 6 and 4. They both look just like their daddy: short, with brown hair and brown eyes.)
For a while, people always gave Dr. Wright a hard time because of his disability, but they have since learned to overlook his being on crutches or wearing leg braces; and they have learned to see that even with his disability, he can (and does) perform his job very well, and he has the reputation of being an excellent doctor.

If this charcter were female, this story could almost be about me! An anesthiologist is what I wanted to be the whole time I wanted to be a doctor! And to top it off, He also has Spina Bifida. I would really love to hear more about this guy.
This is an amazing write, I once heard of a surgeon who used a scotter to get to his emergencies because he was unable to walk, you are such an inspiration!

This is amazing Karen...yes people can be soooo wrong about what a person can do even if they have some kind of disability..that does not mean your brain stop working!!
