Ronee' Le-Anne Reaux, aged 10, shares her dream and why she wants to be a singer.
I am a little girl, but I am a little girl with a very big dream.
My dream is to become a famous country and western singer, and I also want to join the Grand Ole Opry, just like my favorite singer, Loretta Lynn. I also want to have fans, and I would love to perform at all the big country festivals across America.
I have always loved country music since I was little, and I can remember mommy playing Loretta Lynn, George Jones, or some other singer on the radio or on the C.D. player when I was small, and the music always seemed to settle me down and make me happy. I knew then, as I heard Loretta Lynn and the other singers, that I wanted to be a country singer, too.
I started taking voice lessons when I was three, three and a half, and I always enjoyed singing. I still take voice lessons today, and it has really helped strengthen not only my voice, but my breathing and lungs; and for a person with asthma, that is really good. I have been breathing much better since taking the voice lessons; and I always enjoy working with Miss Lana and learning new songs.
I also play several musical instruments including the fiddle, Cajun accordion, guitar, and piano; and I love making music besides singing it. My favorite instrument to play is the Cajun accordion because I love Cajun music, and I have always loved the sound of the accordion in my Cajun music C.D.'s. I have played the accordion since I was five (five years, going on six), and I learned the guitar, fiddle, and piano only a year or two ago. (I have always had the ability to pick up new things at a fast rate, and once I learn a new instrument, I learn quickly and never forget.)
I have been fortunate to have performed for many of my favorite singers, and I have opened shows for Loretta Lynn, which was (and still is) a big honor for me. I have performed at many festivals across the south, including the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, and I have even appeared as a special guest of Loretta's on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry several times. (Of course, I was really nervous when I was on the Opry, but my mommy says I did very well, and she said I handled the nervousness well. I may have been calm on the outside, but inside, I was shaking in my boots!) I was also on a couple of shows on tv ("Maury" and "Star Search"), and even though I didn't win on "Star Search", I still made it to the semi finals, and I had a ball! I made a lot of new friends there, and it was fun meeting Arsenio Hall, Naomi Judd, and Ben Stein! I also got to meet Tiffany Evans, who went on to win the competition, and that was exciting, too! :) (Tiffany is my age, but she sings WAY better than I EVER will! Wow, but that girl can SING! And she was SO sweet!)
I have always loved to sing, and I sing because it makes me happy, and it makes me forget of things going on in my life, like with my health and all; and when I sing, I can just let the music carry me and make the people happy. That is probably the main reason why I love to sing, and I also love to meet the big stars; that is always fun! I also love to sing, because God gave me the talent, and if there is one thing I want to do, it is to repay Him by thanking Him in song for the Gift He gave to me. I also love to sing because I can witness to other people about God and His Mercy and Love, and if I can bless a person with my music, then that is worth more than all the success in the world!
I recently tried out for the show, "American Juniors", but I was rejected. They said I was good, but I wasn't "pop enough", and that was okay because I DON'T want to be a pop star. I want to be a COUNTRY star! LOL I still had fun, though, and I got to meet more kids, including 12-year-old Morgan Burke from Nashville, which is where I am from! (You know who I'll be rooting for when the competition starts...LOL)
