This is a true story about me dealing with having another baby. My first pregnancy was not easy so I had to trust in God the second time again.
My Blessing

“Sweetheart wake up! I have a taste for pizza.” I told my husband about 1:00 in the morning. Here lately I have been craving for all types of food; all hours of the night. I could smell the aroma of cheesy pizza in my sleep, it wrapped around my face like a blanket causing my stomach to growl like a lion. All I could think of was that delicious sauce, that thin crust and lots of cheese.
“What’s wrong is the baby coming? Oh let me guess food attack.” My husband said still half asleep. He has been feeding my cravings for a couple months so he was getting used to my late night snacks.

It was actually pretty cool to finally have a reason to eat everything in sight and have people treat you like royalty. My mother rubbed my feet and cooked me my favorite foods it was great. The truth is the idea of having another baby was so scary and I wasn’t sure I could do it. I had such a time with this baby back and forth to the hospital and it was becoming very difficult for me. My husband was very supportive cooking for me, running to get me food when I had my crave attacks, rubbing my stomach and just being there for me.

I can remember my mother asking me questions about my eating habits after she watched me devour three slices of pizza without coming up for air. She kept telling me I better slow down before I gain too much weight.
“Don’t you think you should slow down with eating so much pizza. Your taste is so crazy all you eat is pizza, chicken, cereal and those greasy Checkers fries. I know they are not good for you.” She drilled.

“Oh mother please stop hounding me I can’t help it. Okay mother I will slow down.” I said hoping she would not harass me anymore. Then I gave her a kiss; that should hold her for a couple hours Boy was I moody.

When I was about 6 months pregnant I was starting to feel very emotional. It was crazy, I couldn’t keep a tear to myself. Every movie I watched touch my heart some kind of way and oh yes everything was “So beautiful” to me. Being pregnant was truly a experience I will never forget.
“Oh my goodness that is so sad. I can’t believe he treated her like that.” I said after watching a Lifetime movie. Everything seemed to get to me and I found myself crying quite often. So Kleenex made a killing off of me that year.
“Maybe if you stop watching those Lifetime movies you wouldn’t get so emotional.” My husband told me time and time again.

It was really hard when it came time for me to take my insulin which was three times a day. This would be the time I would break down completely and feel like I just can’t go on with this whole giving birth thing again. Every time I felt that way the baby would move and that would change my whole outlook on things. The realness of the life growing inside of me; made me thank God for the wonderful bundle of joy he blessed me with. My mind drifted as I began to think about my friend Shelly who can’t have children at all. And here I was complaining about taking my insulin and she would never feel the morning sickness or the kicking or anything related to pregnancy. I started to look at things completely different after realizing I was being selfish.

My husband really tried his best to cheer me up and I wasn’t very nice to him. I just did not feel pretty at all. I guess I lashed out at anyone in my path and my husband seem to be the target.

“It will be okay baby you don’t have long. You are beautiful and I love you.” He would tell me trying to make me feel better.

“You are just saying that to make me feel better. I look like a fat pig, my feet are swollen and my nose is like peanut better spread all over my face. This is horrible I am never going outside again-” I rambled trying to let off some steam. My husband cut me off before I could say another word.

“Look you are beautiful so stop acting crazy. You are always beautiful to me and calm down you are having my little one.” He said as he leaned forward and kissed me on my forehead. It was that moment I felt safe and knew everything was going to be just fine. I prayed for a safe pregnancy and a healthy baby. A couple weeks later I had a beautiful baby girl who I named Nyla. A blessing indeed.
