I could have fallen further as I jacknifed and drowned
Preferring to be clueless to all that did abound
Here I stood grasping images... maps of distant places
Searching all my yesterdays among lines of tired old faces
With no inclination of what tomorrow brings
I lept into this abyss of pain and rusted things
I called upon my anger... this frustrated old soul
To this die'n individual with no inner goaI
Succumbing to life's cling and just grabbing at her straws
Knowing I was weaker because of all my scars
Putting all my anger and inner light aside
Preferring Hell's Chariot as a simpler way to ride
Down to despair and darkness... to the hole of nothingness
Down much deeper to the pitch to find the me in us
In a faint light it opened with no second chance for doubt
To literal suggestion I wrote my burning out
I quilled the final answer when my road stopped at strife
Came upon a second chance to redefine my life
I can see the focus now of eyes there looking back
And just because pains have a past when license is but lack
My sight is through a fog now to sunny smiles and things
Among a map of all my truths to the spirit's inner ring
Living now is graceful with an extra beat in here
For history repairs itself when wisdom has no fear
Then out of acid springs the sweet... the sugar of all pleasing
When love floats up with all the tears and donates all the reasons
Then open skies allow the soars of fetile birth and flying
When love abounds and dresses down the negative of die'n.
I think you've found your second wind in this poem, susan. Cataclysmic! survivor snatched form the towering inferno.

wondrerfully descriptive verse of the a soul being snatched from the road to predition and given a chance to renew itself with love. Loved it.

Susan, I am usually never at a loss for words. After reading this poem I am. The depth of your plunge is just to deep for me.
All I know that in the end you rise above the hurting and pain to dwell in a new cosmic world. You have found your way. I am still deeply lost and feel alone. I can't even begin the search that you completed. bill

Very beat. Very good.
To look through yesterdays with a clear eye would be an empowering thought. It is a good poem.
I particularly like the use of die'n its raw and evokes concentration on the lines its used in.
