A story about a little boy who is currently fighting for his life in the hospital. He was seriously injured in a fire several months ago, and he is currently in a coma. This is his story, as written by his mother, Angelique.
I sit here at the bedside of my baby boy, JaVon Demetrius, who has now been in a coma for two months; and doctors say it still don't look good for my baby.

My name is Angelique Jackson, and I am JaVon's mother. JaVon, he is the youngest of my kids; and he is truly special; always has been. Has a smile that can light up an entire room, the biggest brown eyes, and a loving personality. I also have two daughters, TuRae' (7), and LaShawndria (8), and two other boys, Kelvin (6), and Garrett (5); but JaVon is my baby; he is the youngest. I don't know what I would do without my kids; they are all good kids, and they are so helpful to me.

Now little JaVon be lying in a hospital bed fighting for his life. He was in our house back in May, and it caught on fire; and we thought we all got out, but when I saw that little JaVon wasn't with us, I got scared. I thought for sure I was gonna' lose him in that fire; but a lady firefighter saved my baby's life. She saw him lying on the floor, and she got him out of there; but then she got hurt herself, and she just got out of the hospital. She still faces a long road to recovery, but she is now well enough to get out of the hospital. I owe my life to that female firefighter; she saved my baby from harm, and if it weren't for her, my little baby boy wouldn't be alive today.

I sit here at little JaVon's bedside, and I wish, pray, and hope that he will open his eyes or move around on the bed; but he still lay there, unmoving, unseeing, unfeeling. He be in bad shape, and doctors ain't sure as to whether he will ever wake up again from his coma. He been like this for two months now, and it is starting to take a heavy toll on all of us. The other children don't understand why their baby brother don't wake up from his sleep, why he won't get well, and I don't understand why the doctors ain't doing nothin' for him, to help him wake up. It's like he dead, and it really bothers me. They ain't holdin' much hope for my son; they say he brain damaged, and he ain't gonna' wake up from his coma; and if he DOES wake up from his coma, he is gonna' be disabled and will need help with just about everything: getting dressed, his toilet, feedin' him, whatever. They think that, if JaVon DOES wake up from his coma, he is gonna' be like a big baby, and he will always be physically handicapped. They say he will be in a wheelchair and will never walk.

It is so hard bein' here at the hospital day after day, waiting for news about my baby boy; and it is hard tryin' to raise the other kids and tryin' to be there for them, because JaVon is never far from my mind; and I worry about him and what will become of him. I wish he would wake up, but so far nothing has happened, and I am starting to get scared. I don't like the thought of my baby boy bein' physically handicapped, and I wish he had never gone back into the house to get his teddy bear. If he would've just stayed outside with us and not gone back in, none of this would have ever happened, and JaVon would be runnin' around like a cheetah, playin' with his big brothers and sisters.
