Just noticed in my diary that it has been over a month since I last wrote! I can't believe I let time slip by so fast like that...
The babies are now nearly 6 months old (they will be 6 months old on the 14th of next month), and both Eshe and Kibarake are starting to get their own individual and unique personlalities. Kibarake is the gurgly, ever present noisemaker while his twin sister is quiet, calm, and complascent. As for Jubaki, our eldest child, and our eldest of the two boys in our family, he is now three years old, and is ever the lively little grasshopper. He is hardly ever still for even one second, and he is exceedingly bright for his age.
Our dog, "Rodriguez", and our cat, "Afiya", are both still palling around together, and they remain the best of friends. They sleep together, eat together, play together, get into mischief together...They are really getting big, and "Rodriguez" looks so funny with his long, floppy ears and goofy expression on his face! "Afiya" is ever the elegant creature with her spotted coat and slim body, long legs, and amber-colored eyes accented with twin tearlines that run down her furry cheeks. She reminds me so much of our first cheetah, "Sayidana", but she isn't as friendly. Oh, she'll let us pet her, but only for so long before she decides she has had enough and walks away, annoyed!
Roberto is still busy working at the hospital, and he has been enjoying showing off his brand new 2003 HUMMER, which he WON at our city's annual "Fourth of July BLAST!" Festival. All military personnel, active duty AND retired, were eligible to win the HUMMER, and when the name was drawn, it was Roberto, my husband, who had WON the HUMMER! Roberto's HUMMER is sunset orange, and it is VERY roomy, to say the least! You could probably fit our HOUSE inside it (NOT really, but it IS rather roomy!)! Every time he drives anywhere in his car (truck? HUGE jeep? Just WHAT do you call a HUMMER??), people turn their heads and LOOOOOOOK....It's like they are curious to see who drives a HUMMER, and when they see a guy in a Marine haircut dragging out three small kids and a woman and then a wheelchair, they are always a little surprised. I think they expect somebody like a bank president or a doctor or something, not a family man! LOL
Louisiana, my friend, is also very busy. She is still working at the hospital where my husband works, and she then comes home to her family, and frankly, I don't know HOW she does it or finds the TIME to raise a family AND work full time! She heard from her two former foster kids, Hanh Ly and Linn Chan, who now live in Texas, with their adoptive family, the Pearsons, and both girls are doing very well, according to Miss Louisiana. They said they may come up for Christmas to see the Sanduskys. (As if their house isn't ALREADY full enough; where are they going to put Linn Chan and Hanh Ly??) She sold her red Dodge Caravan, and traded it in for a blue one, a newer model. It is midnight blue, really pretty.
Speaking of cars, Roberto is getting me a Volkswagen Beetle; one of his friends at work is selling his car, and he asked Roberto if he wanted it, since he overheard him saying that he was looking for a car for his wife (the "wife" being me). I still don't drive; HOW in the world am I going to drive a car if I CAN'T drive??
As for ME, how I am feeling, I have my bad days, and I have my good days. Today isn't TOO bad, but several days last week I was in so much pain it was all I could do to get out of bed. It felt like Roberto ran me over with his HUMMER a few times; I was so sore, I thought I was going to go MAD from the pain! But after hot baths and several good rubdowns, and a lot of loving attention, I then felt better little by little. This fibromyalgia stuff is for the BIRDS; they can have it! :( I am still getting around on my walking frame, and ONCE in a while, on my crutches; but I still mostly use my wheelchair, especially if we go someplace. Don't want to risk falling, not with MY screwed-up blood pressure! :(
Uh oh..have to run; Jubaki has gotten stung by a bee; I can hear him crying, and Roberto calling for me to bring the sting ointment...Hope he doesn't have what Ronee' does when she gets stung by a bee; that would be BAD!
