John McCormick Riley is my name, and I am married to Hannah, my wife. We have four wonderful children, three girls, and a newly adopted boy, whom we just got last month. He was adopted from China, and he is now nearly 14 months old.
We live in Burleson, Texas, which is near Fort Worth, and my wife is a part-time nurse's aide while I work for the Burleson Chamber of Commerce. Our children are named Grace Courage (13), Angel Miracle (10), Heaven Joy (5), and Xu Wang, who, as I just mentioned, is nearly 14 months old. Our oldest and our youngest children are both adopted (Grace is from Romania, and Xu Wang is from China)--and are both hearing-impaired, but are otherwise very healthy.
We have four cats (all Maine Coons) named "Tickly-Poo", "Charles", "Wiggles", and "FurrBucket", and three yappy Pomeranians named "Ryan's Hope", "Gigi", and "Silky". So we have a very busy, and active, household, as you can plainly see! Life around the Riley home is NEVER dull, not even for a MOMENT!
We go to Faithville Community Church, and we go every Sunday. My wife works with the kids during Sunday school before the service, and I help out with the ushers, in welcoming the people to church. We especially delight whenever we have visitors come; we are always glad to have new people stop by and see what we are all about!
We get such a blessing from our church; God has certainly been good to our little family, and He continues to bless us each and every day. We never planned on adopting another child, but then we were looking on the Internet one day, at children in need of homes, and this was when we first saw Xu Wang. We were instantly smitten, and then we made the plans to adopt him after we prayed about it; and now, finally, after months of waiting, little Xu Wang is now finally ours; and we finally have the little boy we have always wanted!
The girls have already been busy spoiling their new little brother, and they delight in teaching him new signs and English. Xu Wang is getting used to the idea of having girls around, and he is getting used to the fact that he now no longer is in China; and we think his little body is FINALLY starting to adjust to life here in America. He had a time of it at first (he was always sick, and he suffered from constant diarrhea, which, we found out, was caused to an allergy to the formula we had been giving him; but now we switched to something different, and the diarrhea has cleared up, thank goodness!), and he would cry often; but now he has finally adjusted, and he has turned into a very happy, delightful child with an adorable personality.
We don't know if we are going to adopt any more children after Xu Wang, but you never know what may come down the road. If God wants us to take in more children, we shall do so, but for now, we are enjoying the fact that we now have the little boy we have always dreamed of. He is everything we could have ever hoped for, and so much more!
