A little girl is shot in the face by a drive-by shooting. She manages to survive, but she needs years of plastic surgery to rebuild her shattered face.
Honee' (her name is pronounced like "Honey") Ty'eisha Nicole Johnson is a living little Miracle.
She is not very easy to look at; that is, her face is scored with scars and is very misshapen. She was shot in the face last year in a drive-by shooting, and she was seriously injured and had been left for dead; but somehow, through an unexplained Miracle, she survived.
Honee' is seven years old; she was six when the incident happened, and thankfully, she does not remember much. (She does remember the sound of the gun, and the pain that followed, but thankfully, not much else.) But her mother and her other family members will never forget the macabre sight of the little girl's shattered face, or the blood that was all over the ground when she was shot. She will require further plastic and reconstructive surgery to repair her face; it is still rather misshapen, and she has trouble seeing out of one eye and has trouble talking because of the injuries she had suffered. It is only a painful reminder of the hell that the little girl with the headful of thick, poofy hair endured during her long and difficult recovery.
Honee' also has nightmares about the shooting, and every time she hears the noise of a gun going off, either on tv or in real life, it is enough to trigger nightmares, and she will spend an hour screaming her head off until somebody can calm her down and reassure her that the shooting was not meant for her. She goes to counseling with her family every week at the local family crisis center, and her counselors feel that she will be in counseling for a very long time to come.
The person who shot Honee' Johnson in the face was not much more than a kid himself: the boy in question was arrested, and he is now in a juvenile facility until he is 18. The child in question is only 11 years old, and he was participating in a gang. He is charged with bodily injury to a child, and he could face attempted murder charges when he reaches the age of 18. He was only ten years old when he shot the little girl.

i was a bit confused at first--you write, " the boy in question was arrested, and he is now in a juvenile facility until he is 18. the child in question is only 11 years old,..." i was looking for more than one perpatrator! :) maybe you could say, "the child in question is 11 years old, and is currently ensconsed in a juvenile facility until he turns 18."??
