A woman copes with severe fractures to her leg after an automobile accident. This is her story, as told by Tamyra.
Tamyra was on her way to visit her older sister, who lives in Austin, Texas, when, while in Nashville, Tennessee, she got involved in a horrific automobile accident involving her Beetle and a HUMMER. (The HUMMER won.) She lives in New Jersey.

I really don't know why I am still here, and I really don't know why I just didn't die in that godawful accident that resulted in my being in the hospital. I am laid up in bed with a nasty fracture to my leg, and it looks like I'll be here for a good long while.
I really don't remember much about the accident; I was driving my Bug to Austin, Texas (my sister lives there, and I live in Jersey--New Jersey, that is--), and when I got to Nashville, Tennessee, I was at a red light when this humongous jeep lookin' thing come up; and by the time I saw the front grillwork of the behemoth, it was too late. I just knew I was toast, and instantly, I saw my whole life flash before my eyes. All I really remember about the accident (besides getting smacked by this huge HUMMER; HUMMERS look like glorified jeeps, and they are absolutely HUGE!) is this godawful sound of metal smacking against metal, this godawful jerking, and instant pain in my leg. I honestly thought my leg had snapped off; the pain was immediate and intense; and it was unlike any pain I had ever felt in my life. That was when the world then went totally black.
Mercifully, I had blacked out.
When I awoke later, I was in a hospital bed, a very heavy and bulky cast on my leg; and tubes were in me. I was still in pain, but thankfully, not as much; but all I really remember upon awakening was this tiny black-haired nurse with sparkling black eyes and dark-tanned skin looking at me. She was holding my hand in hers, and her hand felt gentle and cool; and it really comforted me. She said I had been in an accident, but I was going to be just fine, and I had come through surgery without any problems.
"Surgery?" I croaked. The nurse nodded yes; she then told me that I had suffered a broken leg, but the doctor who had operated on me would be in as soon as he could. He would tell me more about my injuries and the accident.
Sorry for being so late....had a lazy early night...a little eye problem...that needs rest...But I am a little pooped too...tooooo many late nights at my PC see!!
