They promised they would wait for each other. Twelve long years has gone by. David is returning just in time for a party being hosted by Mia's parents. This will be a reunion for which Mia is not exactly prepared. David is looking forward to it. He will finally have the opportunity to explain his absence. He hopes she will understand. The two of them fit together again like they had never been apart. The sexual tension between them is something they were too young to explore twelve years ago. They have that opportunity now and make the most of the sweet reunion.

Promises is an absolutely awesome story. It is a little old fashioned and ends the way everyone wants a romance to end. Isn't that refreshing though? This is a story of a young man and young girl that had great chemistry with one another when they were young. After twelve years has gone by they still have not settled for less.
This story is short but very well written. It is a story that each of us might relive at some point in our lives. The characters are intriguing and even though the ending is not a surprise it is the ending each of us would hope for. I would love to read more from this author.

This was a very sweet short read. I felt a connection to the male lead in this story but really wanted a little more from the female lead. I could feel his tenseness from page one of this book and wanted to know a little more about how she was feeling. The writing was very descriptive and brought about the emotions portrayed in the book.

If you enjoy a book with the promise of a love that that should have been, then you should check out Promises today! I can't wait to read more from Ms. Thompson. Oh, and did I say, "Yummy cover! Whoo!"
