A Satisfying Conclusion to the poachers Saga

Talon, Encounter is the fifth book of the Talon series. In it, we once again meet Matica who is trying to prevent poachers from harming her condor friends, Tamo, Tima, and Talon. Encounter is just what it says: an encounter with Pete and Zed, the dangerous poachers. Throughout the story, Matica and her village people battle the poachers in the hope of finally bringing them to justice.

There's a lot of action which keeps the reader wondering if the bad guys will ever get caught. This is a good story, recommended for middle-grade readers and older.

In TALON, ENCOUNTER (the fifth book of the Talon series) we meet Matica in yet a new adventure: war! It brings the challenges facing Matica to a new height. As if her predicament—her fate to never grow—were not enough, now she must find the courage, somehow, to resist the attacks of the poachers and protect her beloved Talon. To accentuate the danger of the poachers, they are not even mentioned by name. “If you see them, fly, fly away as fast as you can.”

The story starts on an agitated note that highlights the vulnerable nature of their flight: “Not only was she agitated , Talon was grunting nervously as well, shaking himself and flapping his wings irregularly, hardly flying straight. Matica had difficulty holding on…” After many twists and turns, the story ends with on a note of celebration, with the villagers standing around the pyre. “Matica had a long flight but when Talon brought her back, he flew off immediately again.”

The author provides an intimate knowledge of condors, crows and other animals, to the point they seem not only human but personable. When Tamo is wounded, he “looked pleading from one to the other, wondering why no one was helping him, as he had shown his wound to everyone.” This is such an endearingly familiar behavior… The series as a whole is a source of hope for all of us. It is a wonderfully uplifting lesson to teach our children, how to overcome fear, how to cope with the sense of being weak, and find ways to persevere against any and all adversities.

I loved Gigi's book, Talon, Encounter. It's full of excitement and suspense. In fact, I got so engrossed in the story, I couldn't put it down. Some parts o it brought me to tears. You will see how Matica and her family struggle against "The you-know-who," two evil men who aim to kill the beloved condors, Tamo, Tima, and Talon. These men are focused entirely on killing them and they go to great lengths, hoping to reach their goal.You'll be stunned by how the condors help in the fight against the evil ones. Initially, the people of the village had no plan against the "you know who," but they managed to do some amazing things. You're sure to enjoy the story and be as eager to turn the pages as I was. Will tiny Matica manage to be a hero against the two people she hates? How will Tamo, Tima, and Talon help? I highly recommend this wonderful story, as well as the others in the Talon series. They're wonderful stories.
