This book is about embracing your true and best self; who you are today and who you will become.
This book was born out of my struggle to regain my true and best self. Born into a wonderful family, I learned to live the roles assigned to me with a high degree of effectiveness: husband, father, pastor, administrator, and professor. By every appearance, I was effective. I earned two master's degrees, a Ph.D., served several congreations as their minister, taught as a professor of leadership, directed a doctoral program, and was the founding Executive Director of a leadership center.
Yet, in all this, I struggled and searched for a more authentic life. There were times when life was authentic and I lived with vitality. then, it dissappeared under challenges and struggles, expectations and compromise. The moment came when I hit bottom....
I had to lay claim to my life. I had to take possession of myself again. What I learned in the process is the essence of this book. The principles and practices found in these pages are validated by solid scientific research and academics. Hundreds of people have tested what is found in these pages, and it works. It worked in my life. It is how I reclaimed my life and remain my true and best self.
