Chapter three
"This is the last day of hunting season and I am not going to miss it. The moon is going to be full this is perfect for hunting. With or without you man I got to go."
"Archer I want to go but I have a paper due tomorrow and I waited until the last minute--- as in today to do it, I'm sorry." Brent said.
"It's alright. Next time right?"
"I'll be there."
Archer was getting ready for his yearly hunting trip. He did not want to go by himself but he had no choice. Since his father died Archer took this trip every year to remember him by.
"Hay mom I'm leaving for the hunting trip." He said as he bent over her and gave her a kiss on the forehead.
She was hooked to a ventilator. She was unable to reply to him. Her skin was emaciated and her cheek bones showed through. Her hand was wrapped with tubing from her iv. Archer took her hand in his being as gentle as he could. Her hand felt brittle in his manly grip. He felt as if her hand would crush in his.
"I have my cell. The nurse is downstairs ring the bell if you need her. I love you." With a longing look in his eyes he bent over her and kissed her one more time on her forehead.

Archer was up in a perch waiting for the perfect shot. The moon was full and high. Looking down his scope he saw a doe. He was happy that he cam alone. He could be alone with his thoughts.
Thoughts of his father and the last time he’d seen him. He was only a boy then but now he was a man. A man that he hoped his father would be proud of.
The doe lined up in his cross hairs. Aiming breathing trigger squeeze.
Pow.
The shot rang out. He got down from his perch and walked over to where his kill lay. He tied her up and started dragging her back to his truck. He knew he was close because he could hear the brook nearby. Full moons are best for hunting because you can see everything.
What is that?
He was straining his eyes to see something crimson shining through the leaves. He walked closer pushing branches out of his way to see what it was. He held the doe on his shoulder.
As he came through the trees he saw her she was beautiful, fire like scarlet flowing hair as the wind blew around her. She lay unmoving, floating in the air like an angel; her face was heart shaped and peaceful. She had on a flowing white dress that was tapered in all the right places showing off her beautiful curves. Around her neck she wore a necklace with a silver chain and at the center there was a blood red ruby, it was shining like there was daylight inside trying to get out.
In an instant her eyes flew open. She was looking at him. She tilted to a full standing position without her feet touching the ground she walked over to him. She walked into the light of the moon.
Her brilliant jade eyes digging in to him, leaving him weak. On top of the jade in her eyes lay a gold halo that the moon light hit just right to make her eyes smolder. She was like a cat out for prey she circled him. Her movements were graceful he noticed that no sound came from the crunching of leaves as she walked.
Her features changed her mouth pulled up at the corners and her white teeth were showing. She crouched down. A low snarl came from her. She pulled back her lips exposing all her teeth including the two k-9’s that came to two fine points.
"Leave the deer and run.” He stood there in shock, like he was a deer caught in the head lights. “Run!” She belted out with a growling underbelly to the command. He could see fire in her eyes like she wanted to destroy him. In her voice he could hear pain. He dropped the doe and ran to his truck.
Sitting in the driver’s seat trying to put the key in the ignition he stopped to take a breath. His hands were trembling. He ran the whole way to the truck. Who was she? He wanted to see her again but he didn’t know why. He felt drawn to her.
