Janice came to the nurses' station and breathed a sigh of relief at finding the friendly face of Cathy McPherson, one of the staff nurses who often assisted Len in delivery. "Hi Cathy," she greeted the young woman manning a seat before a computer screen with a pen light in her fingers.
Instead of her usual perky smile and friendly greeting, the woman looked up at her in surprise. "Why Janice, didn't they tell you downstairs?"
"Tell me what?"
"Dr. Dawson...I mean your husband...he's....he's in the emergency room. He suffered an attack a short time go and....."
"No!" Janice cried, leaving the lunch bags at the nurse's station and rushing for the nearest elevator, dragging her girls behind. No! Her mind screamed in panic. Not Len, please God!

Janice Dawson loves her life. She has a strong faith in God, a wonderful
marriage and two delightful daughters. Yet she can't fight the sense that
something terrible is about to happen. Her life is shattered when her
husband, Len, is diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Following the death of her husband, Janice becomes angry with God. She
believes He has failed her. She tries to move on with her life but nothing
seems right without Him. Then her sister-in-law is diagnosed with acute
leukemia. She turns once more to God realizing she needs strength not
only for herself but also for her brother-in-law, Paul, and his family too.
Janice feels compelled to step in when she learns that Paul is spending
all of his free time at the gym. The kids are becoming sullen and withdrawn.
They beg Janice to do something. But when Janice tries talking to him,
Paul yells at her and storms off. Not knowing what to do, Janice decides to
meet him on his terms. She joins the gym. Paul is shocked when he realizes
the good-looking, new girl on the machines is his sister-in-law. Sparks start flying
and Paul starts running. But he can't get far when his own children play cupid
and love pierces his heart.

Lauralee Bliss writes a wonderful, heartwarming tale about two families coming together in a crisis and finding love even in a tragedy.
Len and Paul are brothers who have always butt heads with one another. Len turned out to be the most successful being a physician. Paul loves his job being a teacher, even though he was never supported in his decision in school.
Len's wife Janice, thought she led the perfect life. With two beautiful girls, a wonderful husband, a big house and her cake decorating business on the side, she had it all.
Until Len was diagnosed with Cancer of the Liver. Since he didn't get it treated sooner, it was quickly taking over his body. A few months later, he died.
Janice had a hard time coping, but with the help of Paul and Katy, she got through the ordeal. She eventually turned her back on her faith in God. She thought she didn't need Him in her life because He took her husband away.
When Paul's wife Katy found out she had leukemia, everyone was devastated. So soon after Len's tragic death and now another family member. Six weeks later, she passed away also.
Paul felt like God had abandoned him and took Katy away. He couldn't deal with the pain of this magnitude. With the strngth of Janice and her two girls, Paul find happiness within himself. Will he find it with Janice too? Is this what she wants?
This story is about having a loss in life, but through whatever your beliefs, you can rely on that to help you in your time of need. Sometimes you can't do everything by yourself. And usually some good will come out of situations when you least expect them to.
