Dear Lord:
Forgive me my countless transgressions
That may have blocked many of my blessings
I've been bound by life's intimidations
Conflicted and confused with life's situations
I need to be moved from this low position
I need help with this difficult transition
My feet are planted in spoiled ground
Can't reach my release; You are nowhere to be found
Because you don't dwell in such a dark place
But I can't see the light; I can't see your face
I'm looking, searching, I don't see you, Lord
The height of the darkness seems to have soared...

Her testimony is one that is sure to touch the reader in the most heartfelt of ways as she takes us on a journey through her life, her emotions, and her personal walk with Jesus Christ. “Fear Bound,” “Search My Heart,” “Humbled,” and “Rejection” are just a few of my favorite poems included in this book. It is an amazing book that truly has a powerful impact on the reader. There are so many moments that many of us will be able to relate to. To celebrate April being Poetry month , I reviewed a poetry book which is not something I normally read unless of course it is written by Ellen Hopkins whose Poetry tells a story and touches some interesting topics. Jaye Murphy was an exception and when I read her poems , to me it was in similar style to Ellen where it chronilogically told a story. In a lot of her poems , the reader especially if they were of female gender would be able to sit back and read them and repeat after me by saying "ive been there , I know what she's going through". As most of us as Blondie's song sings "One Way or Another", have experienced it. To follow a theme that my last few blogs about is that ,no matter who you are, what youv'e been through or done -God is there for you , he is an omnipresent character- he can be everywhere at once. This book showed Jaye's personal life as she went through hardships, frustrations of her heart with identity, painful relationships-which we have all been there and those unhealty situations we all tend to get ourselves into. This poetry also shares with us Jaye's walk back and forth with the Lord as she continued to pray and share her struggles with him and in times doubted him , but as we noticed he never went anywhere , he was still there. Lord, My Lord is a touching Poetry collection that is an ideal present for any of the female culture and I strongly recommend that all females , no matter what your background is that you read this novel.
