Taking a couple of deep breaths, Zofia rummaged for courage and finally found some. "Erebus!" she shouted. Her voice carried magnificently through the stone chamber.
Every demon in the place turned to gape at her. One very wicked looking, nine foot tall half-lizard, half-god thing had been standing in front of Erebus. He-or it--rotated to face her. The lizard-dog shot her the most menacing look of all. Its upper lips drew back off of six inch canines, and yellowish drool dripped from the edges of the hound-like muzzle as he snarled. Two short and very sharp horns stuck out of flared doggie nostrils and quivered with rage. His scaly tail ended in several huge spikes--like one of the dinosaurs Elton had to study about in third grade. With one sweep of his tail he could take out half the room without really trying. The mace in one huge gnarled, scaly hand was definitely over-kill.
Taking a wide-stance, she shouted, "I want my son back!" She blew the same wayward swath of hair out of her eyes. "A deal's a deal!" The strand of hair fell back over her eyes until she swiped angrily at it. The eye twitch had started up again, but she hardly noticed, since every nerve in her body felt like a live wire.
"I can't right now, babe. Can't you see? I'm holding court. And besides, Rulon was just getting to his point. Weren't you, Rulon?"
Rulon, she guessed was the lizard-dog, growled, showing every one of his sharp, yellow teeth.
"I'm not in a good mood," Zofia announced as Rulon took one large menacing step toward her. He raised his very deadly looking mace in his lizard-like hand. She eyed him, pointed her scepter at him and said, "Don't even think about it, Rulon."
