Embracing life after a loss. The five stages of going from loss to laughter.

In five stages—losing, learning, letting go, living, and laughing—this book will show you through encouraging words and uplifting quotations, how to fully embrace life after a loss. The materials comes from the author's experience of dealing with his wife's death at the age of 34 as well as from the loss of numerous friends and a cousin who was like a sister to him. The author is also the author of the best-selling book, The Healing Power of Humor.

Excerpt

You Are Not Alone
One word or a pleasing smile is often enough to raise up a saddened and wounded soul.
-Therese of Lisieux, Catholic saint

When I was about seven-years-old my parents took me to see the musical Carousel on Broadway. I still remember one haunting song in that show. It is “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” In the show, the song is sung to give Julie Jordan, one of the leading characters, strength and courage after the father of her child, Billy Bigelow, is killed.

The lyrics, talk about holding your head up high, not being afraid of the dark, and finding a golden sky at the end of the storm. They gave me comfort and courage during many difficult times in my life. It may do the same for you. Seek it out and listen to it, if you can. Or, find another song, poem, quotation, book, prayer, or grief support group, to remind you that you are not alone in your loss.

It may feel like you are the only one to every experience such an intense loss but you are not. Others have gotten through their loss and they have survived. You can too.
