Set in the imaginary medieval kingdom of Athlandia and its surrounding countries, 'Capture and Liberation' follows the adventures of outsider Ruth.
Daughter of a 'wise woman' and with foreign blood, Ruth lives at the bottom of the social ladder. She doesn't mind; Ruth's a tomboy and it's all she knows.
However, a chance encounter with the King of Athlandia makes her restless with her own lot and intrigues her about the lives of these lofty nobles. They don't seem to be exactly how she expected them to be: stuffy, disdainful and distant. Personal tragedies catapult her into a strange relationship with the King, Will. Ruth finds a necklace that is important to him and mistakenly believes he thinks she's stolen it. She goes on the run. In return, Will discovers a close connection to Ruth and tries to find her in order to fulfil a deathbed promise.
Meanwhile, trouble hits the neighbouring Kingdom of Nordmark. Will and his friends set out in aid of their friends and allies, unaware that Ruth has hidden herself close at hand amongst his archers. Growing and changing in her emotions, Ruth finds that she can't bare to be too far from Will... A story suitable for readers 12-16 years of age.
