This book is divided into four separate stories, each based on something Hardy Belch has read about or learned in school. Then a mystery presents itself and he and his 240-pound telepathic dog, Tiny, set out to solve it. With the knowledge he already has he and Tiny are able to solve each mystery. But the most fun in this book is the conversations between Hardy and Tiny. Yes, Tiny can converse - in Hardy's mind, of course.

Bill Bentrim's newest book, Hardy Belch and Tiny Return, rejoins the young boy with the unusual name and his enormous telepathic dog Tiny as they face challenges and try to help friends.

The book is comprised of four self contained tales. The first explores Tiny's origins and recalls his heroic guard dog Mother's work in a nuclear power plant. The second takes a fanciful trip through time to encounter a lonely Triceratops. The third and fourth stories weave local historical figures into a pair of treasure hunting adventures.

Hardy Belch and Tiny Returns is a brilliant read for the younger reader. It reminded me of Enid Blyton and the famous five in the way the imagination was captured with eager page turning. William G Bentrim effortlessly introduces each character, making you feel comfortably connected. Loved the way the animals were given huge personalities from the beginning. Not only is the book filled with exiting storylines, it also owns pictures and maps! Lots of food for thought for youngsters in a mad modern world which only added stars to my review.
This is a book for the young readers book shelf, without a doubt. It is a book that will most certainly have dog eared pages!
