Lannie Spenser just lost her father unexpectedly. When the mother she has never met arrives the day of the funeral, Lannie is introduced to a world she never knew existed. Overwhelmed with the fact that she was born a witch that will come into her full powers on her twenty first birthday, Lannie also learns that her Mom, Selene, is a Vamp-Witch. Now that she knows what she is to become, Selene encourages her to accept immortality and become half vampire to save herself from a Vampire King. The King hunts her, hoping to be the one to make her immortal, as only Lannie can give him the power that will help control, and rule all of the creatures of the night.
As Lannie tries to embrace it all, she finds Ash. When both of them dream of the same little blonde boy, Ash is led to Northeast Harbor, Maine to help protect her from the Vampire King. Ash vows to protect Lannie, never expecting to fall in love with her. When an unexpected visitor shows up to the bar that Lannie works at, Ash fears she will find out that he has a secret of his own.

Drakul
“Oh for the love of the King. He is going to kill me!” I have
to find a place to hide. If the King learns I have failed, I’m
dead. Unless. I could tell him that the pretty girl has back up.
I am sure he does not know of this. This will please him.
The girl is from his former Coven. If she is here, then the
leader woman must be too. I am sure this will please my King.
Surely it will buy me a pardon.
I waited until nightfall to go see the King. When I arrived
he was feeding on one of his many freaks. His freaks are the
ones that wish to become immortal. They let him feed on
them, hoping that one day he will choose to grant them their
wish of becoming a vampire. I don’t know who in their right
mind would wish for this, but his freaks are in great numbers.
I waited until he was done to approach him. His face made
me tremble with fear. I was trying to hide it. “Buenos noches
Mi Rey.” I bowed my head to him.
“Drakul. Why the long face? Just because you could not
get the girl?”
My King didn’t seem too angry. This gave me hope. “Well
Mi Rey. I tried to reason with her. She refused to come. She is
never alone. When I thought I could just take her, one from
your old Coven came from no where. She was ready to fight.”
I looked at him hopefully.
“A girl from my old Coven?” He looked at me
surprisingly.
“Yes Mi Rey. She had red hair and green eyes.”
“Ah. Kali. So Selene is surely there trying to claim her
daughter. We should have expected as much Drakul. We
knew it wasn’t going to be an easy task. We must improvise
our plans. I want you to go back and see if Selene is there. I
must know what we are dealing with Drakul.”
“Very well Mi Rey. One more thing. There is another too.
A man. Dark haired man with glowing eyes. He knew me.
My name. I do not recognize him though.”
“Glowing eyes you say? Hmmm. Sounds like that of a
Warlock I once knew. A drifter. Did you get his name?”
“The kid that was with him called him Z-man. That is all
I know.” I wished I would have gotten his name. That was
foolish of me.
“You did well Drakul. Go get me the information I seek. I
think we may have to move in sooner than anticipated. Leave
me.” He shoved his hands like he was pushing me away.
I nodded and left. I was quick with my departure as I
headed back to Northeast Harbor. I was thankful to be alive.
I will have to follow the girl from a great distance. I will not let
my King down this time.
